00:20The federal government is ready to expedite Johor Bahru's elevated autonomous rapid
00:25transport project and fund part of its cost. Transport Minister Lok Siu Fook told the
00:31Dewan Rakyat that Putrajaya was committed to the project and agreed that it should begin as soon as possible.
00:38He said the project was first proposed in May 2024 and the government had issued a letter of intent this
00:45month.
00:46Lok noted that Putrajaya may have to partially finance the project after some companies involved
00:52in the request for proposal stage were found to be less competitive. He was responding to former
00:58Transport Minister Wee Ka Xiong who asked whether the federal government could expedite the project
01:03and allocate funding for it, as it did for Penix Mutiara LRT. Lok denied Johor was being sidelined,
01:11saying 70% of the ministry's development spending had gone to the state. He cited the Gemas Johor Bahru
01:17double-tracking project and the RTS link connecting Johor and Singapore as examples.
