DR Congo nearly pulled off the upset against England.

However, England's captain and talisman, Harry Kane rescued the three lions with a virtuoso performance.

Kane scored a brace to avert embarrassment, advancing to the round of sixteen with a 2-1 come-from-behind win.
Transcript
00:04DR Congo were the epitome of David vs Goliath as England were heavily favoured to take care of business.
00:11But the Congolese wasted little time slinging their shot.
00:15Gets the start today, Jarrell Ponsa is among the subs, that's in towards Whistler, could be a problem this for
00:21England, there's the shot, it's in, good score, DR Congo lead and it's smashed in by Brian Sipenga, it's the
00:29sensation in Atlanta.
00:36England were rattled but went on the offensive.
00:52The Leopards were under pressure but withstood the attacks of the Three Lions.
00:57It's Harry Kane, it's a brilliant tackle.
00:59That's outstanding defending by Tu and Xavi for DR Congo.
01:02Off goes Manoweke to the byline, brilliant run.
01:05Manoweke for England, Kane didn't get there.
01:07Oh it's clear off the line by Wan-Bissaka.
01:09Rashford thought he'd scored, brilliant from Wan-Bissaka after excellence from Tu and Xavi prior to that.
01:15Yet Congo was still searching for a second.
01:17Buku to Wan-Bissaka, they're threatening again.
01:19Wissa, oh he's hit the post, inches away from 2-0.
01:23Wissa can't believe he didn't score.
01:27The talking point of the half came when the referee had judged Harry Kane Doove in the box.
01:31Harry Kane's in, Harry Kane's gone over.
01:36What's he gonna give?
01:39He's given a free kick to DR Congo for simulation.
01:42That is not a simulation, there is a clear contact.
01:45FIFA's instructions to the referee is when there is a contact, it must be certainly not a simulation.
01:50For me, I would rather the referee have a look at this.
01:54And when they came knocking again, Lionel Mpasi was stellar in Congo's goal.
01:58Good job, good save. Brilliant from Mpasi, Bellingham thought.
02:02He even risked the family jewels to maintain their lead at the half.
02:06Harry Kane, brilliant save again.
02:08He's a one-man wall. He's unbeatable than Pasi.
02:12Pasi's been brilliant. This is the moment Harry Kane hits it. Oh, forget Mpasi.
02:18And the goalkeeper was drawn into work soon after the restart.
02:23Wan-Bissaka got a deflection on that.
02:26Impassi made the save and then cleared off the line by Mbenda.
02:30It's the change of flight of Wan-Bissaka that makes it awkward.
02:33There you go, just off the toe. Look at the different spin.
02:36He started to go the other way in anticipation.
02:39With an away lapse, the Leopards kept England honest as they went forward.
02:43Here for them. There's the shot.
02:46But England finally found a way past Mpasi.
02:49The Congo substitute says to Clough to Kane.
02:52He scores! England's saviour, England's captain, Harry Kane in the nick of time.
03:05And with their tails up, the English captain delivered the dagger.
03:09To Bellingham for England. Saved by Mpasi.
03:12Another heroic moment for the DR Congo goalkeeper, Harry Kane.
03:17Still Harry Kane! Oh my word! Majestic! Harry Kane! Unbelievable! England lead 2-1!
03:29In the end, David was defeated as England survived to reach the round of 16.
