Wildfire risk will remain very high through Thursday. Winds will gradually relax through next week, reducing the intensity of the fires, but there will be very little ventilation.
Transcript
00:00We have seen some very large wildfires, hundreds of thousands of acres actively burning in parts of Utah and Colorado,
00:07highlighting some of the larger fires. You'll notice that most of these are in the Rockies, generally west of I
00:12-25, west of Denver. But a lot of that smoke has been spilling across the plains and up into the
00:17northern plains as well. So still, unfortunately, there's a lot of smoke production in progress. And the thickest smoke through
00:23Thursday will remain over the Four Corners region, but is also being swept by some winds, kind of ventilating some
00:29of that.
00:30up into the northern plains as well. Wildfire risks still very high through Thursday in the Four Corners region. We're
00:36still going to see very active fire activity. A weaker disturbance passes to the north of the area on Saturday,
00:41increasing the winds once again, with high risk of fire danger in southern Utah and surrounding areas. And gradually into
00:48next week, the winds will relax. That will lead to a reduction in the intensity of the fires. However, there's
00:55a negative side to this. There won't be much ventilation, so that's going to act like a lid trapping the
00:59a lot of smoke near the ground. A lot of smoke and haze into the Great Basin.
