00:01:06Well, we've had the sprint. It's time for the main events now.
00:01:10Welcome along to round two of this Formula One season in 2026.
00:01:13It's the Chinese Grand Prix, the earliest time in the year that we've been to China.
00:01:19It's a bit cold. The wind is getting up, but it is still very sunny here in Shanghai.
00:01:24The sun beaming down on this 3.39 mile circuit.
00:01:2916 corners, 7 to the left and 9 to the right.
00:01:32Straight line mode for your active aero in four spots around this track.
00:01:36And if you've got overtake mode in the race, you'll get it in qualifying anyway.
00:01:41The detection point is right on turn 16, the final corner.
00:01:45The three tyre compounds. The C2 is the hard. C3 is the medium.
00:01:49C4 is the soft. After a pit stop in this sprint race, who might need to go to the medium
00:01:54tyres in Q1?
00:01:55Who might stick with the soft? And who's on the back foot?
00:01:58Because they've not got as many new sets as they might like going into a very important qualifying session.
00:02:04Last eight winners of the Chinese Grand Prix have gone on to become the world champion that year,
00:02:09unless they were Australian. Apologies to Aussies, Danny Rick in 2018 and Oscar Piastri last year didn't make it to
00:02:16the championship.
00:02:16But other than that, if you win here in Shanghai, the championship could be yours.
00:02:21And Anthony Davidson, after two qualifying sessions so far this year, who can catch Mercedes?
00:02:26That's a very good question, Crofty.
00:02:28And I'm sure that everyone's been doing their research, their homework in between that sprint race that we've just had.
00:02:34Very exciting sprint race, actually.
00:02:37So, yeah, it seems it's going to boil down to the two Mercedes once again.
00:02:41As George Russell in his interview was saying, they don't even really understand why they have such an advantage over
00:02:47the competition in qualifying.
00:02:49When it comes to the race, the Ferrari's cashed them back up again, and you're only talking a couple of
00:02:53tenths per lap.
00:02:55But I've got a feeling it's going to boil back down to the two Mercedes drivers, as I suggested on
00:03:00the Skypad.
00:03:01But you never know.
00:03:02It gives the teams a chance to pour through the data, make adjustments on their cars, as Ted was looking
00:03:08at the changes going on, or big changes going on down at Red Bull, for example.
00:03:12So, yeah, you would have had drivers back in the simulator at base, coming up with fresh ideas of what
00:03:17you can do to your cars.
00:03:18The fact remains, though, someone's got to catch George Russell.
00:03:22That man right there.
00:03:23Since FP3 in Australia, he has headed every single session.
00:03:27There's 21 drivers all trying to topple him, Ted Kravitz.
00:03:30But so far, Mr. Saturday has shown on Sundays and Fridays as well.
00:03:35Yes, so confusing.
00:03:36Yes, hello, Crofty.
00:03:37Hello, Anthony.
00:03:38Morning, everybody.
00:03:38So confusing.
00:03:39I have come up with a new name.
00:03:41Did you not hear my notebook earlier?
00:03:42Mr. Patience.
00:03:43Mr. Patience.
00:03:44Or Mr. Patience, like a Mr. Man, isn't it?
00:03:46Because George has shown, hasn't he, that Ferrari might have their fun at the beginning of these races, the sprint
00:03:51race we just had earlier today.
00:03:53If you didn't catch it, Ferrari got away.
00:03:54George had to be patient, but he got them eventually.
00:03:58He got them because he's got an all-round better package in that Mercedes.
00:04:02But Ferrari are making it hard for him early on.
00:04:05But what will happen in qualifying?
00:04:07Well, will he be on pole?
00:04:08Much hotter down here in the pit lane.
00:04:10And, yes, the shorts have come out.
00:04:12But see if George will better, will dip into the 132s.
00:04:16That'll be a storyline for me later on, Crofty.
00:04:18He was a 133-0 was his sprint qualifying pole time.
00:04:22But as for getting out of this Q1 session, anyone on a mid-134 should just about do it.
00:04:29Those on their back foot, well, we know the obvious, Cadillac, Aston Martin.
00:04:33But also there were two Williams, and they're ready to go at the end of the pit lane.
00:04:35And as is Arvid Lindblad looking to turn around his weekend, which has been troubled so far in the racing
00:04:42bulls.
00:04:43Not to mention Max Verstappen, who said earlier on, if it could go wrong, it did go wrong.
00:04:48So they've changed the whole car to see how that works out there.
00:04:50Thank you very much, Mr. Pits, Mr. Simulation, alongside me here in the commentary box.
00:04:56I'll take Mr. Grumpy.
00:04:58Not a problem.
00:04:59Now, there's a Cadillac at the end of the pit lane here that I hope has got enough steering lock
00:05:04to get out without having to be pushed back a bit.
00:05:07There is Valtteri Bottas.
00:05:09What do you reckon your chances are, Ant?
00:05:10Oh, this could cause a bit of a traffic jam.
00:05:13Is he going to make it?
00:05:14He's got to watch out for that.
00:05:15He's going to make it.
00:05:16Oh, look at that.
00:05:16Oh, well played.
00:05:17That was perfection.
00:05:19They might be a new team, but that was absolutely spot on.
00:05:23They had that well judged.
00:05:24Mr. Inch Perfect.
00:05:26Well done, Valtteri Bottas.
00:05:27Miss Strategist over in the race control.
00:05:30Bernie Collins.
00:05:31I mentioned tyres.
00:05:32Who's on the back foot after sprint racing?
00:05:35Yeah, there's a lot to look into Crofty, really, when you think about the tyre set.
00:05:38In this Q1 session, we tend to see two runs of generally soft tyres when we get to qualifying.
00:05:45Now, those at the very front of the grid, as you've seen there in the pit lane, there was some
00:05:48cars on medium.
00:05:49Those at the very front of the grid, let's talk about McLarens and Mercedes, even the Red Bulls,
00:05:54they only have four new sets of soft tyre for this entire qualifying session.
00:06:00So when do they use them?
00:06:02They're hoping to get to Q3, so let's see if two for them.
00:06:04That only leaves one for Q1 and one for Q2.
00:06:08So it'll be interesting to see what they do.
00:06:11Do they hang it out in the garage?
00:06:12We can see the two McLarens from our comedy box still in the garage.
00:06:16Do they hang it out there and just do one run at the end of Q1?
00:06:19That's maybe a little bit too risky.
00:06:21Do they run a new medium?
00:06:23Or do they think they need that for the race?
00:06:25Or do they run a used medium or a used soft?
00:06:28My money would be a used medium is probably better than a used soft.
00:06:33So maybe we'll see a few medium runners in this Q1 session, those that feel confident that they can make
00:06:39it through and beat six cars in this Q1 session.
00:06:43Bernie, we were talking about this before we came on air and going through the strategic options.
00:06:49Ferrari, just with a naked eye, I think Charles Leclerc is on used soft.
00:06:53Lewis Hamilton is on used medium.
00:06:55So maybe the teams aren't even sure exactly which way is the best way to go.
00:06:59Yeah, there's, you know, and sometimes the driver have a slight preference.
00:07:03Sometimes drivers don't like changing compound between medium to soft in this session.
00:07:07Sometimes it's good learning if you need to run a used soft later on.
00:07:11Or there could be slight differences on the lap they've done.
00:07:14We're not always on top of how used that medium or soft tyre is.
00:07:19So Ferrari have all that deal and they know the energy that's going into the tyre.
00:07:23So they'll choose the best for their individual driver.
00:07:25So there could be a little bit of that going on.
00:07:28I think if I was a driver in this session property in either a Ferrari or a Mercedes at least,
00:07:34I think I'd have the confidence to at least beat, with all due respect, the two Cadillacs and the two
00:07:39Aston Martins.
00:07:40On used either soft or mediums.
00:07:44Yeah.
00:07:45Do you have enough in the tank and enough lap time in the bag to beat two maybe Williams or
00:07:51racing balls at one Williams?
00:07:54Who are going to be the next ones that you have to beat?
00:07:57But I think for four of them at least, it's a given that there's quite an easy challenge.
00:08:02Master and Cadillac.
00:08:03Exactly.
00:08:04And then afterwards, it starts getting a bit more tricky.
00:08:07So that's what they're going to be weighing up right now.
00:08:10Arvind Lindblad's got a lot of tyres because he didn't do much in the race itself.
00:08:16And he only had six laps in practice before spring qualifying as well.
00:08:20And that's why mistakes like that are creeping in because it's all still very new to him.
00:08:24Correct.
00:08:24And it's his first ever trip to Shanghai as well.
00:08:27He's out on the track.
00:08:28Valtteri Bottas was the first driver out on the track for Cadillac.
00:08:31Sergio Perez hasn't come out yet.
00:08:34The engine cover came off Sergio Perez Cadillac at the end of the sprint race.
00:08:38I'm hoping they've got enough spares down at Cadillac to replace that.
00:08:43They should have.
00:08:44Didn't his radio message say something like, yes, it's the bodywork, it's the barge boards, and it's the wing.
00:08:50Basically, it's all falling apart.
00:08:53But it's very early days.
00:08:56And with such a little track time in winter testing now, you can't go through everything.
00:09:04I'm just surprised he's not out there yet.
00:09:07And not surprised in a good way.
00:09:09It's not looking great for Sergio Perez.
00:09:10He didn't actually get out of the track for the sprint qualifying either.
00:09:14So Max Verstappen is on the track, as is Charles Leclerc.
00:09:18I think Verstappen, on the back foot a little bit in terms of pace, should get through to Q2.
00:09:23But then how tricky is it going to be for the full-time world champion?
00:09:27We'll see what changes have been made in terms of setup at Red Bull and how they can help the
00:09:33pace over one lap and then in the race tomorrow.
00:09:36At the moment, Charles Leclerc is about 10th and a half ahead of Max Verstappen through the first two sectors.
00:09:42And we've got three times on the board, headed by Franco Colopinto with 1.35.9 for LB.
00:09:47Yeah, so Verstappen is one of those driver's property that's got four new sets of soft tyres at his disposal,
00:09:54hence being on the medium tyres right now.
00:09:58Because he has to try and leave two new sets of soft if he gets to Q3.
00:10:03Exactly, that's what they're fighting for at Red Bull.
00:10:06Will they have enough lap time to see them through to optimise those four sets of tyres,
00:10:13or will they have to use two sets in Q2?
00:10:16Charles Leclerc goes slightly ahead, behind Max Verstappen.
00:10:20That bodes well for Red Bull and for Verstappen on their first runs,
00:10:24and Lewis Hamilton, only fifth fastest on the medium tyre.
00:10:28Now, he's got plenty of time to get back in, put a set of softs on,
00:10:31but is that an indication that the medium might not be the one to be on?
00:10:35Because, well, Isaac Hadjar is ahead of Lewis Hamilton,
00:10:38but then there's a lot of soft tyre runners, including Pierre Gasly,
00:10:40who's gone second fastest that are ahead too.
00:10:43On the back straight now with Oscar Piastri,
00:10:45as Oli Behrman goes into sixth place.
00:10:50Gets to top speed, then the super clipping kicks in,
00:10:53and then on the brakes, round about 100 metre board.
00:10:56And the super clipping's always worse in qualifying, by the way,
00:11:00because you have that extra half megajoule to use.
00:11:03So it goes from eight and a half to nine megajoules per lap,
00:11:06so hence you have to find that extra power from somewhere,
00:11:09the extra recovery from somewhere.
00:11:10So he goes top of the timesheets for now.
00:11:12He did have the fastest middle sector as well,
00:11:15until that was stolen away by Hülkenberg.
00:11:18He still hangs on to it.
00:11:20On what is the anniversary of his Formula One debut,
00:11:23he goes second fastest, tenth of the bit behind Oscar Piastri.
00:11:26Sixteen years ago today,
00:11:28Nico Hülkenberg made his debut in Formula One
00:11:31at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
00:11:33Gabriel Bortoletto made his debut in Australia last year,
00:11:37and crosses the line to complete the flying lap now,
00:11:39goes third fastest.
00:11:40And so, two Audis ahead of one McLaren,
00:11:44and Oscar Piastri topped by a tenth and a bit.
00:11:47Now, what happened to Lewis Hamilton on his lap on the medium size?
00:11:51He turn eight, he goes into nine.
00:11:54Whoa, that was almost a full spin there.
00:11:56But, yeah, the line that he took through eight was fine,
00:11:59and then just lost the rear end midway to the exit of that corner.
00:12:03I think the wind has steadily increased through the day,
00:12:07but track temp has as well.
00:12:08Now, 31.8 degrees.
00:12:11It's around 15 to 20 degrees more.
00:12:14Sergio Perez is on the track.
00:12:16Excellent.
00:12:17We've got a full complement of 22 taking part in this qualifying session.
00:12:21No expert.
00:12:21I dare say Lewis Hamilton might have lost a bit of time in that moment there,
00:12:25and that might explain his lap time of a 1.35.8.
00:12:29Yeah, usually you lose a bit of time when you almost spin the car around,
00:12:32but, yeah, you know what?
00:12:33I love watching these cars, though, in particularly slow-speed corners
00:12:37because they do move around a bit more,
00:12:38and they're not the stiffly sprung, super low-to-the-ground cars
00:12:43that we saw from last year.
00:12:45It feels good.
00:12:46The car just had some snaps.
00:12:4960 on the braking.
00:12:51So, it's funny because if he'd had a moment like that last year,
00:12:54he would have been spitting teeth about how the car felt to drive,
00:12:57but he still enjoys driving the car,
00:12:59which I think, you know, we're seeing his improvement in performance as well
00:13:04throughout qualifying and the races.
00:13:07Local hero Joe Granue watches on.
00:13:09I'm sure he'll be relishing the opportunity to get back out there in an F1 car,
00:13:14but he maybe have to take the title of George Russell for Mr. Patience.
00:13:20Yeah, Mr. Super Patience, I think.
00:13:22Talking of George Russell and Mercedes,
00:13:25here's his teammate, Kimi Antonelli, starting his first flying lap.
00:13:29Yeah, so down into Turn 1 we go.
00:13:31Looks like he might be on a set of used soft tyres
00:13:35and tries to find that apex somewhere around Turn 2.
00:13:38It comes so late around there.
00:13:40And a decent line through Turn 3.
00:13:43Not quite kissing the apex,
00:13:44but it's a corner you don't really need to do that
00:13:46as long as you can get a throttle early enough mid to exit.
00:13:49Now the run down hill in towards Turn 6.
00:13:53And runs a bit wide there as well.
00:13:54Now, that one is going to cost you lap time.
00:13:56So it's just on the brink of locking up for Antonelli there.
00:14:00And despite not a perfect lap anywhere near it,
00:14:03he steals that faster sector.
00:14:05But look at that.
00:14:06Russell takes it away in, yeah,
00:14:09a big way in sector one.
00:14:11Yeah, there's only a few hundreds between the two Mercedes.
00:14:14Russell's gap to anything previously done was quite large.
00:14:19That's why we see the 1.7 seconds advantage for Kimi Antonelli.
00:14:2328-0 for the middle sector.
00:14:26So a couple of tenths up on the best that we've seen so far.
00:14:29We carry on on our way.
00:14:30Couldn't quite commit to going full throttle early enough through Turn 12.
00:14:34We just heard him hovering on the throttle there.
00:14:37And so we see the mini sectors in the middle of his halo.
00:14:40So you're looking for the purple.
00:14:41Obviously, that's the fastest.
00:14:42And then the total sector itself.
00:14:45As Toto watches on with the team around.
00:14:48And on the exit for Kimi, Turn 14 looks pretty good.
00:14:51Good traction in that car.
00:14:53The final corner.
00:14:54That's where he lost time yesterday to Russell in Q3.
00:14:57And a nice tidy lap there, I believe, on older tyres.
00:15:00And six and a half tenths up on Piastri.
00:15:03Yeah, so putting nearly seven tenths ahead of the McLaren.
00:15:07Now, he was about a tenth up on George Russell through the first two sectors.
00:15:10Yesterday in spring qualifying, George Russell was a lot stronger in the final sector.
00:15:15And history's repeated itself right there as he goes 400s clear of Kimi Antonelli.
00:15:20And we can ride on board with Fernando Alonso.
00:15:23That looks like it's vibrating a little bit still.
00:15:25And Aston Martin.
00:15:26Yeah, looks up nicely at the apex, but no rear end.
00:15:30There was such a difference between the car we were just riding on board with.
00:15:34With Mercedes, for example.
00:15:36He's doing all he can to keep the car on the track through that final corner.
00:15:40Pops it into P17 35.4 on the board for Fernando Alonso.
00:15:45Two-time winner here in Shanghai.
00:15:47Two-time pole sitter as well.
00:15:49And that's a far cry from the days when he was right at the sharp end competing for Renault.
00:15:55Or maybe even for Ferraris.
00:15:57That was Hamilton with a couple of cool-down laps.
00:16:00And then a trip into the pits to change onto the soft tyres.
00:16:03Has decided, right, forget the medium experiment.
00:16:06We need some soft.
00:16:07But it could be an old soft as well for this one.
00:16:11So he has that luxury at least.
00:16:13Again, you know, when this early on in a new set of regulations and with a brand new team on
00:16:18the grid,
00:16:19you are in that advantageous position to at least try things like this and still make it through Q1.
00:16:25New soft for Lewis Hamilton.
00:16:27So says Bernie Collins, who's watching these things from race control.
00:16:32So he needs to make the most of it as Alex Albon moves out of bottom five but only to
00:16:36P16.
00:16:37And I dare say in a couple of seconds' time he's going to be back down into that bottom six
00:16:41again.
00:16:41Hamilton crosses the line.
00:16:43Goes third fastest.
00:16:44So two and a half tenths behind George Russell at a time of a 1.33.5.
00:16:50We're on board now with the defending champion, Lando Norris.
00:16:54We've got a battery.
00:16:55We've got the deployment.
00:16:56We've got the recharge.
00:16:57We can see the full chocolate box here, Anne.
00:17:00And it's got the overtake mode as well, as I was referring to earlier on.
00:17:03So not that you're overtaking any cars.
00:17:05It's the same way that we've used DRS last year, for example.
00:17:08So just to have ultimate speed in these cars.
00:17:11But with it comes a bit more clipping, a bit more super clipping.
00:17:15Oh, no.
00:17:16Lidenblad has an issue.
00:17:17And once again, I'm not going to make it through, well, a session cleanly.
00:17:23That's really disappointing.
00:17:25We're going to hear it again here.
00:17:26Just explain the concept of super clipping for me.
00:17:29It's just basically a way to harvest energy back into the battery.
00:17:33And you can see the battery graphic on your screen there.
00:17:36So any time you're off throttle, it recharges at the full 350 kilowatts.
00:17:40And a super clip kicks in at the end of the straight.
00:17:42Once you've built up the speed, you can see the speed at the top there.
00:17:45So once you build up the speed to it, the maximum you're going to go.
00:17:48On this case, it's 327.
00:17:50Then it starts to degrade and we would call it derating in the past.
00:17:56It's just basically like engaging a dynamo on the wheel.
00:17:59It's just hopping up that battery.
00:18:00Exactly. And it's the best place to do it.
00:18:02It's the end of the straight.
00:18:04And you just refill the battery.
00:18:06For the next time, you want to put your foot down, like here, towards the line.
00:18:09And you finish a qualifying lap with absolutely nothing left in the battery.
00:18:12But Philando Norris nearly three-tenths off the pace of George Russell so far.
00:18:18Charles Leclerc next across the line goes quickest with a 1.33.1 on his second flying lap in this
00:18:25session.
00:18:25I dare say that will be enough to get him through into Q2.
00:18:29Oscar Piastri hasn't put a personal best in in the middle part of this lap.
00:18:34He did for the first part of this lap.
00:18:37Piastri a little bit off the pace in qualifying for the sprint race.
00:18:43An old pole sitter for the Grand Prix last year and down in P6.
00:18:47Now, that's okay at the moment.
00:18:48But he's going to have to find a few extra tenths as we get towards the sharp end of this
00:18:52qualifying session.
00:18:53Sergio Perez with the slowest time.
00:18:56Lance Strong 21st and Valtteri Bottas for Cadillac ahead of him.
00:19:00And Fernando Alonso for Aston Martin ahead of him.
00:19:02And then the two Williams who were both knocked out in that sprint qualifying.
00:19:06Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
00:19:08Sainz has not gone beyond the first part of qualifying in any of the two sessions that we've had so
00:19:12far.
00:19:13Esteban Ocon next for Haas.
00:19:15A 1.34.7 is the projected time to get yourself through.
00:19:20And that's a 1.34.0.
00:19:21So that should be absolutely fine for Esteban Ocon.
00:19:25And Oli Behrman, his teammate, now goes seventh fastest with Pierre Gasly for Haas.
00:19:29He's sandwiched in between.
00:19:32Pierre Gasly for Alpine.
00:19:34Sandwiched in between.
00:19:36So we really should be looking at the elimination zone at this time.
00:19:40Of course, the drivers at the top, they're going to sail through.
00:19:44But the two Williams now, they must sniff an opportunity for one of them to beat Arvid Lindblad if he
00:19:50doesn't make it back out again.
00:19:52But Lindblad has, he's on an out lap.
00:19:54So they've fixed that problem, whatever it was, and sent the car back out there.
00:19:58So Williams, that's their challenge right now, to see if they can at least get one of those cars and
00:20:03get them out of that elimination zone.
00:20:06So, who's on the cusp here?
00:20:09Max Verstappen, Arvid Lindblad, who's had to box with an issue.
00:20:13Isaac Hadjar on the cusp too.
00:20:16Franco Colopinto, Gabriel Portoletto.
00:20:18It's very, very tight.
00:20:19Good to see Arvid Lindblad back out there again.
00:20:23A young British driver, five Brits on the grid amongst the 15 nationalities in Formula One in 2026.
00:20:33And we've got a finished driver as well, which is good.
00:20:36Last year was the first time since, I think, JJ Leto that we haven't had a full-time finished driver
00:20:41on the Formula One grid.
00:20:43It starts where you finish, and we want a finished driver on there.
00:20:45Very good.
00:20:46Good to see you.
00:20:47So, Arvid Lindblad, mega impressed with the job he did in Australia.
00:20:52First time out as a rookie, scoring points.
00:20:55He looked solid all weekend.
00:20:57Usually had the upper hand on his slightly more experienced teammate of Lawson.
00:21:02He put together a stunning weekend there in Australia.
00:21:06So, you know, it's a shame things haven't gone his way so far this weekend in Shanghai.
00:21:11But, you know, I think he's pretty resilient.
00:21:14And now he's just got to get his head down and get the lap time on the board that he
00:21:17knows he and the car can do in this session.
00:21:20Previous pole sitter in 2024, Max Verstappen, starts his latest flying lap.
00:21:24We'll go to Bernie Collins whilst we watch him.
00:21:27Yes, Croft, we're just going to say he's been forced to go on a new set of soft tyres.
00:21:31He's not safe in that P15 position because those sort of P16 rearwards have done actually three runs, thrown three
00:21:40sets of soft tyres at it.
00:21:42And that's what's forcing Hadjar and Verstappen into a final run on the new soft that they were hoping to
00:21:48get away without.
00:21:49It's a red ball driver with just the one real lap here to try and make sure he's safe in
00:21:54queue to it.
00:21:55It reminds me of 2009 when Sebastian Vettel had exactly the same challenge in all three parts of qualifying and
00:22:01did take their first pole and then went on to take their first win.
00:22:05But that was a very different car to the one that Max Verstappen seems to be struggling with now.
00:22:09Doesn't look good to drive, Croft, it really doesn't.
00:22:12He had a bit of rear locking into turn six.
00:22:14He wasn't comfortable with the over-rotation, as we call it, but the car pivots too much in the corner.
00:22:20Let's see what it's like in turn 11.
00:22:21And OK there, but he's really having to be careful, take his time.
00:22:26And look here, getting on power, the rear all over the place.
00:22:29And in the high speed as well of turn seven and turn eight, I don't know if the changes they've
00:22:35made to that car have made things worse or how the car has always been.
00:22:39But it's a huge difference to the luxury that the Mercedes and the Ferraris have out there in terms of
00:22:45their car balance and grip.
00:22:47What will help Max Verstappen in the short term is that those behind him, whilst putting in personal best sectors,
00:22:53are not coming up with the times that Max Verstappen is.
00:22:56Hadjar goes seventh fastest, Verstappen goes fourth fastest and set the fastest final sector.
00:23:02How does that driver wring the car's neck like that and get performance out of it?
00:23:07It didn't look like that car should be worthy of being up in P4, with all due respect to the
00:23:12team.
00:23:13Carlos Sainz makes it out of the bottom six.
00:23:15Checkered flag now flying, so no one's going to start a new lap and continue onwards.
00:23:21Arvid Lindblad is down in that bottom six.
00:23:24Had a great dream start, didn't he?
00:23:27With eighth place in Melbourne.
00:23:29He's up to 11th there.
00:23:30That's another fine lap there from Arvid Lindblad.
00:23:33Next across the line, Lance Stroll stays down in the bottom six.
00:23:37Second from bottom from him in the Aston Martin, whilst Fernando Alonso is a couple of places ahead.
00:23:43So Aston Martin, once again, both out in Q1.
00:23:47And Franco Colopinto, who got into Q2 in Melbourne, I think has done it very much here as well.
00:23:52Bortoleto goes seventh fastest.
00:23:53Good lap from him.
00:23:55And next, we watch for Carlos Sainz, who is down on his lap and looking now for Valtteri Bottas, who
00:24:02is on a personal best lap, but his centre times are not great.
00:24:06I mean, look, Max Verstappen wrung the neck out of that car, but he's had to sacrifice a set of
00:24:11new soft tyres to get himself out of Q1.
00:24:14And that's a far cry from recent years as Valtteri Bottas crosses the line.
00:24:18Cadillac here have out-qualified one of the Aston Martins, and that for them will be a very significant qualifying
00:24:25session.
00:24:26Alex Albon crosses the line.
00:24:28He too is out, leaving Carlos Sainz out on a lap at the moment.
00:24:32And he's not in any great shakes in terms of his sector times.
00:24:37So once again, we're going to get two Williams out in the first part of qualifying.
00:24:41And that is Alex Albon parking his Williams.
00:24:45Terrible!
00:24:48Now, he's not had much to say positive about the car so far.
00:24:53We know it's overweight.
00:24:54It has handling issues as well.
00:24:56And it's a real disappointing start to the season.
00:24:58For the team at Grove, Gabriel Bortoleto, seventh fastest time for him.
00:25:04It was Charles Leclerc who was the quickest in that session.
00:25:07But the bottom six were Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas and Fernando Alonso.
00:25:14And Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz out in Q1.
00:25:19Carlos Sainz at both Grand Prix so far this season.
00:25:50Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz is out in question.
00:25:53Can you get at the Text Oyun out of the
00:27:49Yeah, it was a good lap.
00:27:51It was a good lap.
00:27:52I saw the car, isn't it?
00:27:54Let's come back and have a look.
00:27:55What we can do for tomorrow?
00:28:26I used three sets to get there, which some others haven't, but yeah, as you say, Crofty, nice to be
00:28:31in Q2 and now the real work starts.
00:28:34It certainly does.
00:28:35It puts him on the back foot.
00:28:36What of Pierre Gasly?
00:28:37Was it only two sets that he used?
00:28:39Yeah, two sets for Pierre.
00:28:40First set was Scrub.
00:28:41So, I think we've got a bit of pace in hand with Pierre, but it's very clear that our main
00:28:46competitors, Haas, Red Bull, are getting their act together with deployment, so it's going to be very tight for us.
00:28:51And what about conditions out there, Steve?
00:28:53It looks a tad windy.
00:28:55Are the gusts catching the drivers out a bit?
00:28:57I haven't heard any of them complain about that yet.
00:29:01Still two sessions, but so far not a problem for us, no.
00:29:04There's about 30 years' worth of experience in that answer, Steve, with the word yet.
00:29:08You know how this goes.
00:29:10This is going to be really tight to get into Q3, I think, isn't it?
00:29:12Yeah, it will be tight, to be honest.
00:29:14There's some pretty competitive people around us, and Pierre's on the cusp.
00:29:18Hopefully we'll get in, but it's very close.
00:29:21But it's nice, isn't it, after last year.
00:29:23At least you're in it to win it.
00:29:24Yeah, it's nice to be racing again, which most of last year we weren't, but we're definitely doing that now,
00:29:29so that's great.
00:29:30Brilliant.
00:29:31Steve, thanks ever so much.
00:29:32Hopefully we'll talk to you after Q2 as well.
00:29:35Hope so.
00:29:36Thanks, Crofty.
00:29:37Take care, mate.
00:29:38What were you pointing out there, Mr. Davidson?
00:29:40I was just looking at the track dominance from one car to the other, and it was Charles Leclerc versus
00:29:46George Russell,
00:29:47and hopefully that fight will continue on through the next two sessions.
00:29:52Yes, Charles Leclerc heading George Russell in that session.
00:29:55First time George Russell has been headed in any session, Bernie Collins, since FP2 in Australia.
00:30:01Yeah, I don't think he's going to worry too much about that, Crofty, because we're a long way from done
00:30:06yet.
00:30:06And George Russell only used the one single set of soft tyres.
00:30:10So just a quick update on tyres that are remaining Crofty.
00:30:13The majority in this final 16 have three sets of soft at this stage.
00:30:19Three drivers have four sets of soft, or four drivers, sorry, have four sets of drops.
00:30:23That's Lindblad, the two Hassels, and Hülkenberg.
00:30:26And then only one driver, and you've just spoken to the team.
00:30:29Colopinto only has two sets of soft for this session.
00:30:32So we'll see significant running, but a bit of a mix of tyres available.
00:30:36First time since Canada and Austria last summer that Franco Colopinto has got back-to-back Q2 appearances.
00:30:42For Esteban Ocon, can it be a first?
00:30:44Can he reach Q3, or SQ3 even, if you want to put that in the mix?
00:30:48Here in Shanghai, he's never done that before.
00:30:51And Oli Behrman, his teammate, only been out-qualified by Ocon twice in the last ten Grand Prix qualifying sessions.
00:30:59Lots to play for here.
00:31:00Ted Kravitz down in the pit lane.
00:31:01Interesting you point out the battle between the two Hass drivers, because Oli Behrman's really pulling away from his more
00:31:08experienced teammate Esteban Ocon.
00:31:10Consistently two to three-tenths of a second per lap quicker than him.
00:31:14Was in the sprint as well, a couple of places ahead of him, is so far today.
00:31:18So now's the time for Ocon to really find some pace to see if he can challenge Behrman, who seems
00:31:23to be just having the legs on him early season.
00:31:25Good recovery, or should I say, well scraped out of Q1 and into Q2 by Liam Lawson.
00:31:32Having such a positive day so far, there was only a couple of tenths in it.
00:31:36Didn't go for a third run and burnt up some new soft tyres, but was quite fortunate, actually.
00:31:42It looks like the Racing Bulls has lost a bit of pace in between the sprint and the fourth one.
00:31:46Yeah, I noticed his teammate Arvid Lindblad with a 1.33.9, Lawson with a 1.34.1.
00:31:52But I think they do their predictions, they do their simulations of the team, they realise that Williams were not
00:31:58going to be a threat.
00:31:59Saving tyres, sometimes a very important thing to do.
00:32:03Right, Kimi Antonelli in the pacey Mercedes, out there on a flying lap pretty early in this session.
00:32:08Just seeing the note at the top of the screen there, Bortolejo Hajar, turn 15 impeding.
00:32:13We'll hopefully have a replay, oh, no further investigation on that one, but I didn't quite catch that at the
00:32:19time.
00:32:19So we pick up Antonelli on the exit of turn four, up the hill and over the crest, down towards
00:32:24turn six, straight line braking.
00:32:27Try and meet that apex this time around, it looks like he does from the heli shot, harder to see.
00:32:31He just tries to sneak a tiny bit of a toe for Carr in front of him just before heading
00:32:36through turn seven.
00:32:37That was Oli Behrman in the Haas, George Russell, meanwhile, behind him, picks up the fastest first sector.
00:32:43The two McLarens, by the way, properly on used tyres at this stage, so don't expect anything great from them
00:32:47on this lap coming up.
00:32:50Now down towards turn 11, now Carr awkwardly in the way there before flicking back to the braking zone.
00:32:56That was Ocon in the other Haas, and that sequence where you turn left and right.
00:33:00It's important not to overstep the left and get a bit of late oversteer, because you have to get the
00:33:05car back into the right-hand side,
00:33:07as Kimi Antonelli's, well, one of his teammates, Fred Vesti, on the right-hand side of your screen, watches on.
00:33:12He's one of the reserve drivers for Mercedes, of course, for this year.
00:33:16Now down towards that last, well, not the last heavy braking zone on the lap, into 14, pick up the
00:33:22throttle without losing the rear end too much on the exit.
00:33:25That's when you see the car just squirming around ever so slightly, and feed the car in.
00:33:30Try and carry as much minimum speed as you can through that final corner of 16.
00:33:35So it's a 1.32.9, he's about three and a half tenths up on his best time from Q1.
00:33:40George Russell's been faster throughout this lap, and goes quicker by about half a second.
00:33:45So once again, anything Kimi Antonelli can do in the other Mercedes, George Russell, seems to have quite the margin
00:33:51on his teammates.
00:33:53Well, that continue on into Q3, I wonder.
00:33:55Hamilton with the fastest middle sector.
00:33:57Leclerc goes second fastest ahead of Kimi Antonelli by about five one-hundredths of a second.
00:34:03But can Lewis Hamilton now challenge George Russell to get the fastest time?
00:34:06No, by three-tenths of a second, he slots in to P2, and we're on board with Isaac Hajar.
00:34:13You just feel he's wrestling away at this car.
00:34:16It's not quite the smooth ride that he would enjoy on this Shanghai afternoon.
00:34:20Half past three in the afternoon, and Isaac Hajar puts in the slowest of the five times that we've had
00:34:26so far.
00:34:27Used tyres for the McLarens.
00:34:29Here comes Lando Norris, crosses the line, goes ahead even on the used tyres of Isaac Hajar.
00:34:35Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both running used tyres, and Piastri are way, way down on that set that have
00:34:43been used before.
00:34:44Yeah, another further tenth away from his teammate Verstappen in front of Norris as well to go P5 at this
00:34:50stage.
00:34:51And it's been consistent around those two-tenths, that margin he's held on to Hajar the whole way through this
00:34:56weekend so far,
00:34:57and he's done it once again.
00:34:58And Hülkenberg with the slowest tyre that we've had so far will cross down to Oli Behrmann down the back
00:35:05straight.
00:35:06And they're all braking, just lifting off braking, round about the 100-metre board at the end of that long
00:35:13back straight.
00:35:14Yeah, he had that nicely balanced on the exit of 14.
00:35:17Good throttle control there by Behrmann, and really wrestling the car on the exit of that final corner
00:35:23to go ahead of Lando Norris as well, just behind Max Verstappen.
00:35:27He does seem to be a very precise driver, Oli Behrmann.
00:35:30You know, there's not massive inputs onto the steering wheel.
00:35:34Everything's nice and calculated, and, you know, just ease of movement through there.
00:35:39It's really interesting watching him on board.
00:35:41I think Gabriel Bortoletto's soaring away like some sort of rustic lumberjack at the wheel of that Audi car.
00:35:49Yes.
00:35:5012 fastest for him.
00:35:51He's in the bottom six.
00:35:52All right, what can Arvid Lindblad do in the racing balls?
00:35:55This midfield battle that they're all in here is so competitive, Crofty.
00:36:00So it really comes down to the driver and how he can execute that lap.
00:36:04And that was leaving nothing on the table there for Lindblad.
00:36:07Not quite enough to get out of the elimination zone for now, but he's not too far away.
00:36:13Remember, such limited time around this track, particularly on new tyres and low fuel for him.
00:36:18I think he might have lost a bit of time at that final corner, but it was two tenths down
00:36:22on Gabriel Bortoletto through the first sector.
00:36:25Here comes Pierre Gasly.
00:36:27Now, if there's a man to try and get a car into Q3, and sometimes a little bit unexpectedly, it's
00:36:33Pierre Gasly.
00:36:34Finished ninth here last year.
00:36:36He was disqualified, though, from the race.
00:36:38But ten Q3 appearances in 2025, including three of the last four races.
00:36:44This lap for Gasly gets him up to eighth.
00:36:46So in between Norris and Hadjar.
00:36:49And the problem for the front runners here is we just watched Colopinto cross the line.
00:36:53P13 for him.
00:36:54The problem that the front runners face right here, Crofty, is knowing when to use or if they have to
00:37:00use another set of new tyres in this session.
00:37:02Because the midfield is so tight, they will inevitably use two sets.
00:37:07And with that, might knock out some of the more confident front runners trying to do it on one set.
00:37:14If you're Isaac Hadjar, this could be a very, very tense session.
00:37:18Max Verstappen's put a little bit of distance between himself and the rest.
00:37:22Liam Lawson ahead of Arvid Lindblad by a couple of hundredths of a second goes P14.
00:37:28And there's your sectors.
00:37:29Lewis Hamilton with the fastest middle sector.
00:37:31George Russell dominating the start and the end.
00:37:33Bernie Collins to you.
00:37:35Yeah, just quickly to come in, Crofty, on the tyres that they've used so far.
00:37:38So, Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren, that first run has all been unused soft for them.
00:37:44So, that's why you're seeing Verstappen and Behrman on a new soft beating Norris on a used soft.
00:37:51So, there's a few differences in strategy going on there.
00:37:54Looks like Red Bull committed to running two sets of new soft in this session.
00:37:59McLaren going a slightly different way, running used first.
00:38:02And now I expect when these blankets come off, there'll be a new one under there to hopefully promote them
00:38:08away from that elimination zone.
00:38:10This time last year, he was on pole position, Oscar Piastri.
00:38:13He was in the dominant car.
00:38:15At the moment, he's 10th fastest and he's only safe by four milliseconds.
00:38:19And, yes, he's got a nice, shiny set of the C4 compound tyres to put on that McLaren.
00:38:25But this is pressure for Oscar Piastri now.
00:38:29It is. I mean, he'll get the job done properly on the brand new set of tyres because now it's
00:38:33a level playing field against the likes of Hulkenberg, Ocon, Colopinto, who are all behind him.
00:38:39You know, the reason their lap times are so close to that of Piastri is because Piastri did it just
00:38:43now on an old tyre.
00:38:44So he should comfortably sail through Q2, but they've had to resort to using a brand new tyre to do
00:38:49it because the drivers behind him will inevitably go out on another new set and actually find more lap time
00:38:56in themselves, at least two, maybe even three tenths of an advantage in your own ability from the learning you've
00:39:03just gone through.
00:39:04But the pressure comes from having to deliver the perfect lap because if he makes an error, loses a few
00:39:10tenths, then you're in trouble.
00:39:11And I think McLaren, by sending him out with just under seven minutes to go, have allowed a margin there
00:39:17for Oscar Piastri to say, look, if you don't do it on the first lap, you do a cool lap
00:39:22and then you can try again.
00:39:23Yeah, it'll be, I mean, it should be plain sailing for him and look, this is why he's paid the
00:39:28big bucks, to deliver under pressure.
00:39:31So I expect Oscar Piastri to do exactly that.
00:39:34The big bucks.
00:39:36See, when you were driving for Subaru Aguirre, yeah, the big bucks.
00:39:39On pennies, yeah, so I could still deliver under pressure.
00:39:44Yeah, that is very true.
00:39:45A very different car to this one, it has to be said.
00:39:48Honestly, he'll be absolutely fine.
00:39:50I've probably given him the ultimate commentator's courtesy, but yeah, all things going well for Oscar.
00:39:55He just has to put together a 90% lap driving wise and he will sail through Q2 because the
00:40:02car's got that advantage over the likes of the Audis and the Hasses and the Alpi.
00:40:07Is that the secret?
00:40:07Just drive within 100% so you eliminate the mistakes that could arise?
00:40:14That's how you play it.
00:40:15You build it up, first of all, in Q1, you put a banker lap time in, there's no point having
00:40:21a huge lock-up or a spin in a session like that when you know you've got a car advantage
00:40:26over your rivals.
00:40:27And as you progress through the knockout rounds, you start to dig more and more for the lap time.
00:40:33That was a little snap going through turn two.
00:40:36It's normal in turn one and turn two.
00:40:38You go through, it's elevated, you go through, it's such a long corner.
00:40:41You go through a huge variation of wind direction as well and it plays a habit with the balance.
00:40:48Now down towards turn six.
00:40:49Again, just the rear knock completely stable in the mid-corner point.
00:40:53For Piastri, obviously, has set a personal best in that first sector, which is, it ends just before turn six.
00:41:00And then through turn eight, he goes down two gears, hug the inside of that one to help open up
00:41:05turn nine.
00:41:06And we go to the off-board shot as he's now flat out through the exit of turn 10.
00:41:11Straighten the car up, it's a straight mode section there with the active aero open.
00:41:16And, yeah, one and a half tenths away at this stage.
00:41:20By the time he gets to 11 and 12, get back over to the right-hand side, full throttle.
00:41:24So you've got your throttle trace on the halo graphics, the green bar all the way to the top.
00:41:29And you can see that battery draining down at the bottom of those graphics.
00:41:33He's got nothing left before the braking zone comes at you into 14.
00:41:38Hard on the brake pedal now.
00:41:40Wait for it.
00:41:41Down through the gears and then pick up the throttle nice and gently, but progressively.
00:41:46You want to minimize that wheel spin and any twitchiness from the car at the rear.
00:41:51And now through that final corner he goes, what's it going to be as a cross-line?
00:41:54Good enough for P5 ahead of Verstappen's lap, like-for-like on new tyres, of course.
00:41:59That, I think, is the important thing there, McLaren ahead of the Red Bull.
00:42:03Charles Leclerc goes quickest, though.
00:42:041.32.4 for a man a bit more advanced on the progression scale in this session.
00:42:10Lewis Hamilton stays third fastest.
00:42:12There's less than a tenth of a second between the top three currently.
00:42:16And Lando Norris on a personal best will be next to cross the line.
00:42:19Lando Norris, who was third on the grid this time last year here in Shanghai.
00:42:24And this time only fifth fastest ahead of his teammate.
00:42:27And McLaren, once again, their best team, I think, out there, occupying positions five and six.
00:42:33Yeah, their upgrades can't come soon enough, can they?
00:42:36That's what they'll be hoping for.
00:42:38And we don't know when we're going to see them, but they clearly don't have the car to do the
00:42:42job at this stage.
00:42:44And I think, yeah, Mercedes and Ferrari have got the upper hand on them in that department.
00:42:50Obviously, sharing the same power unit as the Mercedes teams.
00:42:56And I think, yeah, there's still a lot of learning for them to do in that regard for the deployment
00:43:01strategy throughout the lap.
00:43:03But when you get to this point in the weekend, you're starting to home in on where that needs to
00:43:07be.
00:43:08Starting a flying lap with two minutes to go, Isaac Hadjar and Max Verstappen.
00:43:14Hadjar currently 10th fastest and might be a little under pressure here from Nico Hülkenberg.
00:43:19Just watching the sector times at 24-4.
00:43:23He was only a 10th up on Hülkenberg through that first sector.
00:43:26Antonelli, meanwhile, going quickest overall through the middle part of the lap.
00:43:30Hülkenberg making his way down the straight.
00:43:32Love to pick up a toe behind Pierre Gasly, but Gasly's weaving around,
00:43:35trying to get some temperature into his tyres.
00:43:37A 27.9 for the middle sector for Nico Hülkenberg.
00:43:41And Isaac Hadjar was another 10th down on Nico Hülkenberg through the middle part of that lap.
00:43:47Now, can he get into SQ3?
00:43:49He's reached that in five of his last six visits here in Shanghai.
00:43:53Oh, by two one thousandths of a second, Nico Hülkenberg just misses out on that lap.
00:43:59Kimi Antonelli, meanwhile, is this going to be the fastest lap we've seen so far in a session?
00:44:04Guess what? It is 1.32.4.
00:44:07And there's now, what, a tenth and a bit between the top four cars.
00:44:11Isaac Hadjar's just coping a threat so far of Hülkenberg in the Audi.
00:44:16But Ocon started his lap well.
00:44:18And he's still very much in the danger zone as he crosses the line and stays tenth fastest.
00:44:24I don't know what happened in that final sector for Hadjar,
00:44:26but that could be bad news here, Crofty.
00:44:28Verstappen improves on his lap time.
00:44:30And they're all improving as well.
00:44:32There are green sectors everywhere.
00:44:34Hadjar might be a trouble here.
00:44:35And there's a double yellow out on the track.
00:44:37Bortoleto stopped at the final corner.
00:44:39Here we are with Arvid Limblads.
00:44:41And Gabriel Bortoleto is on our driver track.
00:44:46And there he is in the gravel and trying to get going again.
00:44:50But if you are on a lap and a double waved yellow is being shown, that's it.
00:44:56Your lap time gets deleted.
00:44:58So that's if you're passing that zone.
00:45:01So for Arvid Limblad, absolutely no chance for him.
00:45:04And he's out.
00:45:05Bortoleto now manages to get going again.
00:45:08But Colopinto is going down the back straight.
00:45:12And it's all clear now for him.
00:45:14Gasly, I think, is through in P9.
00:45:17And it's down to Franco Colopinto or Isaac Hadjar, I think,
00:45:22to get into the top ten for qualifying.
00:45:26Gasly crosses the line, goes fifth fastest.
00:45:29Isaac Hadjar still on the fringe of it here.
00:45:31Oscar Piastri is in that top ten.
00:45:33He's safe.
00:45:34It's Franco Colopinto who we're looking at here.
00:45:37Can he do it?
00:45:38Oh, by five one thousandths of a second, he misses out.
00:45:43Hulkenberg thought he was close.
00:45:45Colopinto was close.
00:45:47And Isaac Hadjar's like, yeah, not close enough, boys.
00:45:50Wow, that was close, wasn't it, for Hadjar.
00:45:53I really thought that Colopinto was going to do that there.
00:45:55He looked like he was on an absolute mission through this final corner
00:45:59where we ride on board with Lando Norris.
00:46:01It's not a great middle sector for him, but improves in the first and third sector.
00:46:06Right.
00:46:07Something's not right.
00:46:09Major understeer, says George Russell, who was third fastest in that session.
00:46:14You've got to feel a bit for Arvid Lindblad, who was looking pretty handy,
00:46:20but he came across the double yellows.
00:46:22His lap time got deleted as he went through this sector.
00:46:24And the double yellows are out because Gabriel Bortoletto did that.
00:46:29I've seen a few drivers touching that curve before turning into the final corner.
00:46:33And it can upset the car.
00:46:35I wonder if that's just what happened there for him.
00:46:38It's not a hugely heavy braking zone.
00:46:40There's a big old knock to the left rear of that car and the rear wing.
00:46:44And that will probably need changing.
00:46:47But, yeah, poor old Bortoletto.
00:46:48I think it just maybe took a bit too much of that kind of entry curb on the right-hand
00:46:53side.
00:46:54And that's all it takes when these drivers are right on the limit like that.
00:46:57Yeah, see the car?
00:46:58I think it just unstabilised the car.
00:47:01Did well to catch it, but it sent the car into a tank slapper.
00:47:04And that gravel trap's not quite big enough to slow it down in time.
00:47:10And you've also got to feel sorry for Esteban Ocon and for Liam Lawson as well,
00:47:14who both got caught out by that double waved yellow.
00:47:19Their tales of woe will be a tale of relief for Isaac Hajar,
00:47:23who scrapes through Antonelli.
00:47:25Kimi Antonelli was fastest.
00:47:27We lost Bortoletto, Lindblad Lawson, Ocon, Kolopinto and Hülkenberg.
00:47:58Bortoletto, Lindblad Lawson.
00:48:02Bortoletto, Flavcenter, Hülkenberg.
00:48:22Bortoletto, propositions of Ulphemers.
00:49:55Welcome back to Shanghai.
00:49:57They are checking George Russell's front wing down at Mercedes.
00:50:01There's some work going on, and they're replacing George Russell's front wing down at Mercedes.
00:50:06There's some work going on at the back of the Red Bull garage as well.
00:50:09And Steve Nielsen, managing director at Alpine, can talk us through a lively end to Q2.
00:50:15Five milliseconds separating Franco Colopinto and a spot in Q3, Steve.
00:50:22He nearly did it.
00:50:24Yeah, a real shame for Franco.
00:50:25As you say, Croft, he's really, really close.
00:50:27He's improved a lot since yesterday, and a shame we couldn't convert that into two cars in Q3.
00:50:32But we have got Pierre there, so there's still a bit to play for.
00:50:36It's Anthony here, Steve.
00:50:37Did Franco come on the radio to say yet where he lost that time or which corner may be better?
00:50:45And he may have.
00:50:46I didn't hear it.
00:50:47If he did, there was a lot going on, honestly.
00:50:49With the yellow flag.
00:50:50So if he did, I didn't hear it.
00:50:51I'm sure we'll hear it afterwards.
00:50:53So you've got a new set of tyres for Pierre Gasly.
00:50:56We're just seeing a shot here of Flavio Briatore congratulating the Argentine drivers.
00:51:01A little different to what we saw in Drive to Survive, Steve.
00:51:03He's pleased with him today.
00:51:05I'm not commenting on that, Croft.
00:51:08Yeah, you sit on the fence and the pit wall at the same time, my friend.
00:51:12What can Pierre Gasly do?
00:51:13Because that was another super Saturday performance from Pierre Gasly to go P6 in that session.
00:51:20Yeah, really good for Pierre.
00:51:21Obviously, nothing done yet.
00:51:23We need to turn that into a real, you know, P5, P6 or P7, whatever we can do.
00:51:27So we'll see how we go.
00:51:28He's only got one set.
00:51:29We may do two runs, may use a scrub set, but we'll see.
00:51:33He managed to out-qualify Max Verstappen for qualifying for the sprint race.
00:51:36Could it happen again?
00:51:38Anything's possible, yeah.
00:51:39I mean, let's see.
00:51:41Love it.
00:51:42Keep optimistic there, Steve.
00:51:43Well done.
00:51:44Thanks ever so much.
00:51:45And we'll speak to you tomorrow.
00:51:47Thanks, Crofty.
00:51:48Crofty, these were the kind of improvements we were expecting from Alpine.
00:51:51I think what happened in Melbourne hopefully was just a one-off for them.
00:51:55But these improvements, switching from their own power unit to Mercedes power unit, I think
00:52:01this is what they were expecting as well from it.
00:52:03Just we can see Russell now exiting that garage after that nose change.
00:52:08I mean, not his nose.
00:52:09The front wing and the nose as well.
00:52:13It's a like-for-like.
00:52:14There'll be no problems with that.
00:52:16Unusual to see.
00:52:17It's an odd one.
00:52:18And they have changed.
00:52:19Yeah.
00:52:19And he also asked to check the right-hand side of the floor as well.
00:52:25I don't know if he's run over a kerb or gone somewhere he shouldn't have.
00:52:29All interesting stuff, that, Ted, for the hot favourite to take pole position.
00:52:33He might have run over a kerb, but there is a good reason why they did change.
00:52:38Why he had the understeer at Turn 1, George Russell, was because the active aero front flap
00:52:43wasn't working.
00:52:44It wasn't adjusting properly.
00:52:46Mercedes just say maybe it wasn't coming back up fully, which accounted for the understeer.
00:52:51Oh, George Russell stopped.
00:52:54Jumping top right.
00:52:55Looks okay now.
00:52:56It's not.
00:52:58But to check boost, I've got a massive engine break in here.
00:53:02And he's also said on the radio, I've got no battery.
00:53:05I've got no battery.
00:53:07Toto Wolff looks a little bit stunned by that.
00:53:10And you can hear the capacity crowd here in Shanghai.
00:53:15Well, absolutely stunned as George Russell sits motionless in terms of his car in the
00:53:22middle of the track.
00:53:24Has he managed to get it going again?
00:53:26Andrew Shovlin, chief engineer on the radio, trying to help out from the pit wall.
00:53:32Marcus Dudley, his race engineer, will be giving him instructions, but he has got it going
00:53:36again.
00:53:37Yeah, so my fear there was that he wouldn't be able to start it because he had no battery,
00:53:41but obviously there's a tiny bit left to crank the engine over and he's got going again.
00:53:45Let's have a listen to this.
00:53:58This is not changing gear at all.
00:54:00It sounds like he's just stuck in first gear there.
00:54:02It's like cruise mode, isn't it?
00:54:03He's like doing an aero test.
00:54:05While he does that, his teammate Kimi Antonelli starts a lap.
00:54:08I cannot chip for years.
00:54:12Stuck in first.
00:54:41Well, that's going to be a long, painful run back to the pits, isn't it?
00:54:43Two days tomorrow, Kimi Antonelli.
00:54:45Could this be his moment for a Grand Prix?
00:54:47He's got to get the job done first, though, and through the first sector.
00:54:50Antonelli, Leclerc and Hamilton, all 24-0.
00:54:53It is neck and neck between three cars so far.
00:54:58A 27-7 for Kimi Antonelli through the middle part of the lap where he has been strong,
00:55:03to be fair to him, all weekend long.
00:55:05Behrman, four tenths off the pace through the first sector.
00:55:08Leclerc, tenth down on Antonelli through the middle part of the lap.
00:55:12Hamilton now continues on towards the end of that second sector
00:55:16as Antonelli hits the brakes into turn 16.
00:55:19And Lewis Hamilton's lost half a second to Kimi Antonelli in the middle part of the lap.
00:55:24Here comes the young Italian then, round the final corner.
00:55:28This is the time they all have to beat for pole position.
00:55:31It's a 1.32-3.
00:55:33He's got a tenth faster than he did in Q2.
00:55:37Charles Leclerc will be next.
00:55:40Charles Leclerc, who has never been on pole here in Shanghai before,
00:55:44started the last two Grand Prix in sixth position here,
00:55:47did it for the sprint race as well.
00:55:48And he is on the front row, but only the front row, by about three tenths.
00:55:52And Hamilton has a lot to make up after a disappointing middle sector for him.
00:55:57Across the line with Lewis Hamilton, and it's P3 only for the six-time pole sitter here in Shanghai.
00:56:04Antonelli's got it for the moment.
00:56:07Yeah, he would have passed his teammate, of course,
00:56:09limping around that long right-hander before the back straight.
00:56:13As we watch Behrman cross the line, P4 at the moment, he goes.
00:56:18But we've got many to come after him, the two McLarens, for example, and Red Bulls.
00:56:23George Russell has made it back to the pits, and he is being pushed back into the garage.
00:56:28And is this where Lewis Hamilton lost his time in the middle part of the lap?
00:56:31Well, we had an oversteer moment there before, and the similar kind of thing happening once again.
00:56:36Really fighting that Ferrari through the apex of turn nine, and then in between nine and ten.
00:56:43And it just hemorrhages lap time when you have that kind of mode.
00:56:46Such an important corner, or series of corners on the track.
00:56:50What happened to Leclerc in 11 and 12?
00:56:53Looked good on through 11, but they're just struggling to get on power in the midpoint through turn 12.
00:57:00Then it seems to settle down after that.
00:57:03We look at the Alpine heading towards us of Pierre Gasly.
00:57:07Norris behind him on track.
00:57:09What can he do here?
00:57:11Can he pick off one of the Red Bulls?
00:57:13That's the question.
00:57:14That's his target, surely, for this session.
00:57:18George Russell back in the garage.
00:57:21His car hooked up to the umbilical cord as they're trying to find a way to fix the issue.
00:57:26The lack of battery power, the fact that he couldn't change gears.
00:57:29Gasly, fifth and slowest in this session so far.
00:57:33Lando Norris goes ahead of him and onto the front row.
00:57:36And ahead of the two Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton.
00:57:39And that's a special Lando Norris lap right there and then.
00:57:42Piastri next, and he goes second fastest.
00:57:45And a special Piastri lap for the pole sitter here last year.
00:57:48McLaren coming really good in Q3 after being off the pace in the first two parts of qualifying.
00:57:54Hadjar, sixth fastest, behind Hamilton, ahead of Behren and Gasly.
00:57:58Here comes Max Verstappen.
00:58:00And he goes ahead of his teammate by a couple of hundredths of a second.
00:58:04Really tight between the two Red Bulls.
00:58:06But McLaren have just popped up into this race for pole, which the pole sitter for Melbourne doesn't look like
00:58:12he's going to get off the starting blocks just yet.
00:58:15Bernie Collins.
00:58:16Yes, Crofty.
00:58:17We've been listening to George now.
00:58:18They were trying to power cycle that car.
00:58:20He was complaining he couldn't get it into neutral.
00:58:23But really intelligent for George.
00:58:24On the in-left there, he was thinking, consider if we can do push-cool-push in the second run.
00:58:29So he's still thinking ahead, hoping that it can get back out.
00:58:32Just an update on the tyres used for the other drivers there.
00:58:35Verstappen, Hadjar and Gasly are all used sets of soft.
00:58:40Everyone else that's on the lap times there is on a new.
00:58:43And everyone with a new for this second run.
00:58:46So hopefully they can get George Russell out of that garage.
00:58:49Thank you very much, Bernie Collins.
00:58:51Kimi Antonelli has provisional pole.
00:58:53Kimi Antonelli, who was born on the 25th of August 2006.
00:59:00The day that Sebastian Vettel made his first ever appearance at an F1 weekend.
00:59:05Turkey FP1, you might remember that.
00:59:07And I'm sure you were there too, driving that weekend.
00:59:11Kimi Antonelli, who could supersede Sebastian Vettel and become the youngest ever pole sitter for a Grand Prix.
00:59:21And Seb has that record from Monza, that brilliant win for Toro Rosso back in 2008.
00:59:26The current record, 21 years and 73 days.
00:59:30He's got the wheels going, but is that a good sign or a bad sign?
00:59:34I think if he had come in and he was stuck in first gear, they have to fire the car
00:59:39up on the jacks.
00:59:40And then as it's still rotating around in first gear, I think it's a good sign, properly.
00:59:45They've managed to then get it into neutral.
00:59:47We saw the rear tyres stop rotating.
00:59:49And I think they should be good to go from that.
00:59:54This is where, as a driver, you've changed the steering wheel.
00:59:56Oh, you've changed the steering wheel as well.
00:59:58Valtteri Bottas had that, of course, in Australia.
01:00:02So is that just like a software thing?
01:00:05We'll change the steering wheel just in case there's a bug with the software on this.
01:00:08I think it's a fail-safe kind of situation, like a belt and braces job.
01:00:13When you're searching for all of the possibilities that this could be.
01:00:18And it might be like a shift's not working on the steering wheel.
01:00:21Or any kind of electronic glitch that's going on.
01:00:26I mean, it's not always the cure, but it can be one of the possibilities.
01:00:30So you may as well, because it's such a quick fix to do.
01:00:33So a change of steering wheel.
01:00:34The important thing is that all of the switches are in the right position.
01:00:37Yeah.
01:00:38When that second steering wheel goes onto the car.
01:00:40Would Kimi have his own steering wheel?
01:00:42He does.
01:00:43George have his own steering wheel.
01:00:44And would they have a spare for both drivers?
01:00:46They do, yeah.
01:00:47Yeah, and so it's, you know, the steering wheels can't be really easily interchanged between the two cars.
01:00:54But the individual car for that single driver, it can be.
01:00:58Now, Kimi Antonelli is coming out of the garage.
01:01:01George Russell's still there.
01:01:02This is the time, Bernie Collins, you put your trust and your faith in the team around you.
01:01:06And you, well, you act like Ted Kravitz was saying at the top of this qualifying.
01:01:10You act like Mr. Patience, yeah?
01:01:12You do, yeah.
01:01:13And I think George has nothing else he can do.
01:01:15He's got to get his mindset on his normal qualifying and see if they can get it out.
01:01:19But just to pick up on the steering wheels, Crofty, it will be someone's job in that garage on the
01:01:24spare steering wheel to make sure they're matching the switch position changes that George does.
01:01:29Such that the spare is exactly the same switches that he came in on.
01:01:33That used to be a job in the garage to make sure the spare was exactly set up like the
01:01:38main one that has come off the car.
01:01:39Yeah, the sort of job you think, do we need to do this, do we need to do this?
01:01:44And then this happens and it becomes so, so important.
01:01:47But if Russell can make it back out there, his engineer looked, Marcus Utley, looked pretty composed.
01:01:53I take that as a good sign that he will be able to get back out there.
01:01:56And if the car behaves itself this time, it's then the job is now down to the driver to perform
01:02:02in that one and one and only lap.
01:02:05I mean, talk about, then you're talking about the pressure when everything's on the line.
01:02:09So, yeah, that's another good sign, the wheels going on and getting tight.
01:02:15So, wow, this is huge.
01:02:17It reminds me of, I think it was this circuit for Vettel once before.
01:02:21In 2009, Red Bull's first ever pole.
01:02:23He had one lap in Q1, one lap in Q2, one lap in Q3.
01:02:28And he got the job done and went fastest in every session.
01:02:31Yeah, now he's battling a C-mate, although a lesser experienced driver in Kimi Antonelli.
01:02:36He's fast enough, and with those two laps under his belt, well, that one lap under his belt, he's going
01:02:42for his second one here.
01:02:43That's what you're fighting against, George Russell, now.
01:02:46George Russell's coming out.
01:02:47They're just lowering the car down on the jack.
01:02:49So, as his teammate, Kimi Antonelli, crosses the line to start his flying lap, George Russell makes his way out
01:02:55into the sunshine.
01:02:56And he's got just enough time, Ted Kravitz, to get round before the checkered flag.
01:03:01Not just enough time, yeah.
01:03:02So, the Russell Mercedes package is fallible.
01:03:04Seems okay.
01:03:05He's stepping on it, going out the pit lane.
01:03:07Seems all right for now.
01:03:08Have we discounted a hydronic problem if it couldn't change gears?
01:03:12They must have discounted that in the garage.
01:03:14Anyway, he's on his way.
01:03:14Let's see what happens.
01:03:15We've not discounted anything.
01:03:17What we do know is that we have 48 pole positions for Italian drivers in F1 Grand Prix history.
01:03:23And we might be on the cards for 49 here today with Kimi Antonelli.
01:03:39And he'll want to do it with his teammate out there, Crofty.
01:03:44He certainly does.
01:03:45Norris up.
01:03:46Leclerc down.
01:03:47Antonelli up.
01:03:48And there's just milliseconds in it through the first two sectors of this lap.
01:03:53Kimi Antonelli making his way.
01:03:55Round turn 13.
01:03:56He's got a straighter corner, a straighter corner.
01:03:58And the line to go to become the youngest pole sitter in F1 history.
01:04:03But he's going to have to wait for it because his teammate is going to be last.
01:04:06And sometimes you leave it last and no one can respond.
01:04:10And you get the job done.
01:04:12Leclerc with the fastest middle sector coming to join the party.
01:04:15Lewis Hamilton just a fraction off through the first sector on his latest lap.
01:04:19Gasly matching Hamilton and Leclerc in the Alpine.
01:04:22Here comes Kimi Antonelli.
01:04:24Can he extend his advantage out in front?
01:04:27Yes, he can.
01:04:28It's a 1.32.0 to go and get pole position.
01:04:32And Lando Norris is the first to cross the line and chase it down.
01:04:36Can Norris do it for McLaren for a second year in a row?
01:04:40Piastri last year, not Norris this year.
01:04:42Only P3 as teammate.
01:04:44Still on the front row.
01:04:46Charles Leclerc then for Ferrari.
01:04:48Can he come to the party?
01:04:49It's the front row only for Charles Leclerc.
01:04:52And there's three tenths of a second difference between Kimi Antonelli and the rest.
01:04:57Hamilton crosses the line and he goes to the front row.
01:05:01Six-time pole sitter here in Shanghai.
01:05:03And he's on P2 at the moment.
01:05:05Pierre Gasly.
01:05:06This is going to be his best lap in qualifying.
01:05:08And he goes P6.
01:05:09It's a super lap from him.
01:05:11But Oli Verma's putting in decent sectors.
01:05:13What can he do to cross the line in seventh place just behind Gasly?
01:05:17Ahead of Verstappen and Hadjar, who are yet to cross the line.
01:05:20Piastri next to cross the line.
01:05:23That's his race.
01:05:24Qualifying done.
01:05:25He's half a second down.
01:05:26And on the second row.
01:05:28Isaac Hadjar was P3 on the grid in Melbourne last week.
01:05:31He's P7 currently ahead of his teammate Max Verstappen, who's the next driver to cross the line.
01:05:37And Verstappen replaces Hadjar in that P7.
01:05:40And there's a tenth of a second between the two Red Bull drivers.
01:05:44Kimi Antonelli is on provisional pole.
01:05:47But George Russell is still out there.
01:05:49And Kimi Antonelli is waiting with bated breath to become the youngest pole sitter in Grand Prix history.
01:05:56Can George snatch it off him?
01:05:57He's not going down without a fight here, is he, Crofty?
01:06:00He was wrestling that car for all it's worth through Turn 12.
01:06:03He may have even lost a bit of lap time there.
01:06:05He had Norris in front as well through Turn 10.
01:06:08He would have been cursing that one.
01:06:10But the braking into 14 looks very sweet.
01:06:13And so does the exit.
01:06:14Giancarlo Fisichella in 2009 for Force India.
01:06:17The last Italian to take pole for a Grand Prix.
01:06:21Is it Antonelli's day?
01:06:22Is it Russell's day?
01:06:23It's Kimi Antonelli on pole position.
01:06:27The youngest pole sitter in Grand Prix history.
01:06:30George Russell on the front row.
01:06:32It is a Mercedes front row lockouts.
01:06:34But it wasn't smooth sailing for the British driver.
01:06:38All the problems came his way at the end.
01:06:40His teammates taken advantage.
01:06:43That, in the circumstances, was a fine lap by George Russell.
01:06:46But let's give a round of applause.
01:06:48He was on pole for the Miami sprint last year.
01:06:51Now he's done it in a Grand Prix.
01:06:53Kimi Antonelli.
01:06:54Take a bow, young man.
01:06:56Nice work, Kimi.
01:06:57That's a pole position, mate.
01:06:59Yeah, let's go, man.
01:07:00Woo!
01:07:03And it's going to seem all the more worthy to him,
01:07:07knowing that George Russell did, in fact, get a lap on the board as well.
01:07:12I know it was just one lap,
01:07:13but it's George Russell at the very peak of his abilities right now
01:07:17that you've done it to.
01:07:19It was just that one lap for George,
01:07:20but what a recovery from Russell.
01:07:23Really impressive stuff.
01:07:24The car obviously had it in it over the competition,
01:07:28but you want your biggest competition there
01:07:30when you drive a lap like that.
01:07:32So I know exactly what that means to Kimi.
01:07:35But he's gone better with his second lap as well.
01:07:36He did.
01:07:37It needed to go better.
01:07:38It was a phenomenal lap.
01:07:39I mean, regardless of what George would have done
01:07:41maybe on his first lap,
01:07:42the lap that Kimi put together there
01:07:44was incredibly strong.
01:07:46And to get two tenths, over two tenths,
01:07:50in your pocket over your more experienced teammate,
01:07:53albeit just doing it on the one lap,
01:07:54that's a great achievement.
01:07:56It's going to go a long way for Kimi's confidence.
01:07:59Lewis Hamilton will start from the second row
01:08:02alongside his teammate Charles Leclerc.
01:08:04Beware the fast-starting Ferraris,
01:08:06and we've said that once.
01:08:07We've said it twice,
01:08:08and I'm sure we'll say it again
01:08:10because they are a force to be reckoned with
01:08:13at the start of the race.
01:08:14And Kimi Antonelli, now he's got that pole,
01:08:16is going to have to get his race start right
01:08:18because two times out of two so far this season,
01:08:21and he hasn't got it right.
01:08:22Exactly.
01:08:22It's a hundred percent record so far
01:08:24of Kimi Antonelli not getting off the line cleanly at all.
01:08:28We've seen him do it in practice sessions,
01:08:29but not in a racing situation.
01:08:31So that's going to be weighing on his mind as well.
01:08:35George Russell starts second then
01:08:37for the second consecutive Chinese Grand Prix.
01:08:40Oh, what a recovery from him and the whole team as well.
01:08:44There was no panic.
01:08:45They seemed pretty, it was like quite systematic
01:08:48in the way they went about it.
01:08:49But yeah, George will be annoyed by that.
01:08:52But these things happen in a brand new set
01:08:54of regulations and rules.
01:08:55And like I said before,
01:08:57nobody's immune to this reliability issue right now.
01:09:00No team on the grid.
01:09:01There will be a lot of eyebrows raised
01:09:04and twitching a bit
01:09:05that Mercedes had reliability issues in qualifying here.
01:09:08And maybe a few teams hoping
01:09:09they get reliability issues tomorrow as well
01:09:11because it might help them in the race.
01:09:13No, he's happy with that.
01:09:14You can see the body language.
01:09:15He's happy.
01:09:16He's got that car onto the front row.
01:09:17And if he hadn't,
01:09:19if he hadn't made it through
01:09:20and he was only 10th on the grid tomorrow,
01:09:23that suddenly makes your job a lot harder
01:09:25despite being in the fastest car.
01:09:27Oscar Piastri drove really well, I thought.
01:09:29Two McLarens really coming on stronger
01:09:31than they were this time yesterday in sprint quality.
01:09:35And they're chipping away at it,
01:09:36but they don't have the downforce.
01:09:38It's quite clear.
01:09:39And Oscar out qualifying Lando
01:09:40for the second Grand Prix at running two.
01:09:43Max Verstappen lines up P8
01:09:45where he did for the sprint race.
01:09:47And Isaac Hadjar just behind him.
01:09:49Pierre Gasly ahead of both Red Bulls and Alpine.
01:09:52That's a fine result for them.
01:09:54Oli Behrman was the slowest in Q3.
01:09:57And for Mercedes, back-to-back front row lockouts
01:10:01for the first time since Bahrain and Sakhir in 2020,
01:10:05when, of course, George Russell at the Sakhir Grand Prix
01:10:07was driving for Mercedes.
01:10:10He got the promotion, didn't he, that particular weekend.
01:10:13Verstappen, by the way,
01:10:14a tenth of a second between himself and Hadjar.
01:10:16Let us hear from Jolion Palmer
01:10:18and the youngest pole sitter in a Grand Prix ever.
01:10:20I'm down here with Formula One's youngest ever
01:10:23Grand Prix pole sitter.
01:10:25Kimi Antonelli, congratulations.
01:10:27You've just beaten Sebastian Vettel's record.
01:10:30How was it out there?
01:10:32Yeah, it was a pretty clean session.
01:10:35So, you know, really happy, of course.
01:10:38Unfortunately, George had an issue in Q3,
01:10:40so it would have been cool to see him with two sets.
01:10:43But, yeah, I think it was a really good session.
01:10:47Clean one, no mistake.
01:10:48And looking forward to the race tomorrow.
01:10:50How could you keep it calm?
01:10:51Were you aware of what was happening on George's car
01:10:53or were you just so focused on yourself there?
01:10:55Well, I saw it at the issue,
01:10:57but I just tried to keep my focus,
01:10:59to stay calm and try to deliver a good lap,
01:11:02which was at the end.
01:11:04And a record-breaking lap.
01:11:05Well done, Kimi.
01:11:06George, speaking of the issues,
01:11:08I mean, that was a difficult session.
01:11:10It looked like already in Q2.
01:11:12It wasn't straightforward,
01:11:13but you got out of there in the end.
01:11:15You managed to get a front row out of it.
01:11:17Yeah, definitely damage limitation.
01:11:19I mean, in Q2, the front wing broke.
01:11:21We was wrapping our heads around that.
01:11:22Then, obviously, went out in Q3,
01:11:24stopped on track.
01:11:25Car wasn't restarting, couldn't change gear.
01:11:28And then, just not really happy to be standing here
01:11:30because, you know, starting to the last lap,
01:11:32had no battery, no tyre temp, no nothing.
01:11:34So, but the team have done a really great job
01:11:38to get us into this position.
01:11:39It could have been much worse.
01:11:40So, very glad and well done to this guy.
01:11:42That's possible.
01:11:43Well, you've been formidable so far this season.
01:11:45Are you guys going to put on a fight,
01:11:46bit of a show out front for us tomorrow?
01:11:49Yeah, I mean, it's obviously,
01:11:50we need to take care of the guys in red as well.
01:11:53They were super fast off the line.
01:11:55So, I'm sure Lewis is going to be pretty dicey
01:11:57at the beginning of the race.
01:11:59But I think for us to try and keep it clean,
01:12:01have a good race,
01:12:02try and put on a good race for the fans
01:12:03and see what we can do.
01:12:04All right, well done, George.
01:12:05Which brings me nicely to Lewis.
01:12:08In the top three,
01:12:09you love it here in China, I know.
01:12:11It's been a great circuit for you in the past.
01:12:13And that was a big lap at the end.
01:12:14I saw the moment you had on the first one in Q3,
01:12:17but you put it together when it mattered.
01:12:19Yeah, it was actually a really tough qualifying,
01:12:22a bit harder this one with the wind.
01:12:24It's so gusty today.
01:12:25So, putting the lap together was challenging
01:12:29and Charles put in great laps.
01:12:31These guys were putting in great laps.
01:12:32So, I'm really, really happy to be up here
01:12:36and grateful to be up here with these guys.
01:12:38They've been rapid so far this season.
01:12:40But we did some good work.
01:12:42The engineers did some great work over the break
01:12:45and we managed to get a little bit closer to these guys.
01:12:49So, that's a real positive.
01:12:50We take that forwards.
01:12:51And the gap was really coming down as well, as you said.
01:12:54Have you got some powder still dry for the race tomorrow for a fight?
01:12:57It's still going to be a challenge,
01:12:58but I'm sure we'll have some fun.
01:13:01I'm looking forward to it.
01:13:01We'll have a lot of fun.
01:13:03We'll learn a lot in the sprint race.
01:13:05So, let's hope tomorrow is not as windy as this
01:13:07and our goal is to try and break the gap between these guys somehow.
01:13:12All right.
01:13:13Well done, Lewis.
01:13:13And thank you, everybody.
01:13:15Good luck for the race tomorrow.
01:13:22All right.
01:13:26Thank you, guys.
01:13:27Go, go.
01:13:28Go, go.
01:13:29Go, go.
01:13:42Go, go.
01:13:43Go, go.
01:13:44Go, go.
01:13:45Go, go.
