Hundreds of jobs are on the line at the Whyalla steelworks ahead of a last-ditch effort to restart the plant's blast furnace. The government is preparing to transfer workers to other jobs if the furnace can't be saved, with the premier warning there'll be short-term pain as the plant transitions to a new owner.
