Gas prices are high, but so is the number of people traveling this holiday weekend. So how can you stay safe and comfortable through both the traffic and the heat?
Transcript
00:00What are you expecting this 4th of July travel period for gas prices and beyond?
00:04We're seeing actually an increase in traffic from our consumer audience
00:10in terms of the number of trips and the number of fills that we're seeing.
00:14You know, all fuel prices are up, and I think a lot of people are choosing to hit the roads
00:18instead of buying an expensive airline ticket.
00:21So what advice do you have for travelers preparing for those long 8, 10, 12, 15-hour road trips?
00:27Safety is the number one priority, so in terms of planning your stops, stopping frequently,
00:33obviously be very aware of your surroundings, and that includes weather forecasts.
00:38If you see some storm activity in the forecast, make sure that you've got a good destination in mind
00:43if you've got to pull off and take a little break.
00:45So hydrate on the road and make sure you're taking care of kids and dogs.
00:50How can drivers stay safe and comfortable during periods of heavy traffic and summer heat?
00:55You've got to make sure to know your own limitations in terms of if you're feeling overheated.
01:00You know, come into our nice air-conditioned locations and make sure you're restocking the car
01:06with what you need to get yourself safely back on the road.
01:09And again, just stay patient because everyone's in the same boat.
01:14What other travel trends are you seeing among your customers this summer?
01:17We're definitely seeing a shift to more fresh food offerings.
01:22You know, everything from fresh sandwiches to salads.
01:26You know, our fresh-cut fruit is a very, very popular item because it's refreshing and it's also healthy.
01:32Protein is another big theme for us.
01:35You know, we have seen on the gas side, even though we are seeing more frequency of fill,
01:40we are seeing a little bit of a smaller fill size.
01:43So I think people are conscious of maybe even crossing state lines where they're just gassing up enough
01:48to get them to maybe the next state if the next state's got cheaper gas.
01:52Any opportunity that people have to, you know, save, you know, a buck or two here or there,
01:58people are taking advantage of that.
