The Federal Court's decision on the prosecution's appeal against Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's acquittal was postponed to July 13 after panel judge Justice Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali fell ill.

Court of Appeal President Justice Abu Bakar Jais said it wouldn't be right to deliver the verdict without all three judges present.

00:06Sadiq Syed Abdul Rahman's acquittal failed to materialize on Tuesday
00:11after one of the panel judges had fallen ill.

00:16President Justice Abu Bakar Jais walked into the courtroom alone at 9.30am sharp
00:21without fellow panel member Federal Court Judge Justice Colin Lawrence Sequeira beside him.
00:27Justice Abu Bakar announced that Datuk Cheh Mohamed Ruzima Ghazali,
00:31the third judge on the panel, was unwell and resting for two days.
00:34He said the panel of judges was ready with the decision,
00:38but it would not be right to deliver the decision without all three members present.
00:43Syed Sadiq was hoping to learn whether he remains a free man
00:46or whether the Apex Court would reinstate his conviction
00:49and sentence over four charges linked to 1.12 million ringgit in armada funds
00:55involving criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of funds and money laundering.
01:00The Court of Appeal had unanimously acquitted and discharged him on June 25th last year,
01:06overturning a high court sentence of seven years jail,
01:09two strokes of the cane and a 10 million ringgit fine handed down in November 2023.
01:15The federal court will now deliver its verdict on July 13th.
