Alphonso Davies opens up on how he felt watching Canada from the bench during the World Cup group stage games.
Transcript
00:00What was that group stage like for you?
00:02You know, being there but not being able to play,
00:04being part of every conversation, being used as a decoy and all of that.
00:07How was that like for you?
00:09Yeah, obviously it was painful, you know.
00:11The only thing you want to do is play football, you know.
00:13That's what I'm really passionate about.
00:14And I think the first game, watching it, I was, you know, eager to get on the pitch.
00:19Second game, even more so.
00:21And obviously the third game, I went to him before the game.
00:24I asked him like, you know, do you think, you know, I can get, you know,
00:28a couple of minutes, obviously he could have said,
00:31yeah, you know, we just throw you in there.
00:33But obviously he cares about, you know, me and the team and as human beings as well.
00:38So he sat me down and said, listen, you haven't gone through your progressions
00:41to get back on the pitch and in game.
00:45So I thought about it and I said, he's right.
