00:18The end of the world cannot be stopped it can only be survived
00:27Juliet whatever you're going to do do it now
00:31There's a new world coming and it's just around the bend
00:39But the first thing I wanted to ask is about the themes of responsibility and humanity
00:44and how that sort of floats back and forth considering family and honor within this family
00:51Could you talk about that because it's so multi-layered I don't want you to give anything away but it's
00:56so dynamic this season
00:57Yeah well I think Camille's journey is a prime example of that really
01:02You know they've come from such a tight unit Rob and Camille where they were ride or die
01:07It was them against the world it was their family it was about protecting their family
01:11It was all about their son getting their son outside you know and that was her core goal
01:18And then all of a sudden she's thrust in this position of power and 10,000 lives are thrown onto
01:24her shoulders
01:25And all of a sudden her responsibilities have to change
01:27And it starts testing that loyalty if you like to her husband where you know
01:34She's being told by the powers that be not to share any information with him
01:38And she makes that decision and even I like I was looking at it as an actor thinking no tell
01:43your husband
01:43Like you know but you can see she's going through it and how much that weighs on her
01:49And when that communication shuts down between between Rob and Camille
01:54That's when just everything just erodes and I think I think we can learn a lot from that as well
01:59We need to go over some of the details for the council meeting tomorrow
02:02Okay
02:03Very exciting
02:04But we can do that after your weekly in the cafeteria
02:09I know you don't like these appearances but the people need to see you
02:15Yeah
02:15The people need to see me
02:27And responsibility for like for Robert has been about his family and protecting the people of the silo
02:36And that responsibility changes because the truth changes for him
02:40And then he has to get into more of his humanity point blank
02:45Because not that he was inhuman before, inhumane
02:49But you know he has to deal with his humanity in a way where it's like
02:54If you've been like believing in something and you feel like you've been seeking power
02:59And the power not to abuse it but to do what you need to do and you realize that power
03:05doesn't mean anything
03:06And this is how you've identified what you're going to pursue in your life
03:11And then you get close to that mountaintop and realize that mountaintop is not it
03:16It's not it's the wrong mountain really
03:22It changes your humanity
03:23And he had to like you know as they say come to Jesus moments
03:27He had those moments where he had to like deal with himself
03:31And he's on a redemption tour at this point
03:34Like he's like trying to get himself together and the people that he's wrong
03:38So I think that's where the humanity comes in and you feel that
03:41And also you feel it in the relationship with Robin and Camille
04:12You know what's really interesting about Silo
04:15And with you guys coming in on the third season
04:18Is the aspect of perspective and perception
04:20With both Daniel and Helen
04:22The way they see the world
04:24The way other people perceive them
04:26And what is possible
04:28Could you talk about looking at that psychology
04:30Where it's all about how you see things
04:34Yeah I think we are the sum of the stories
04:36That we tell ourselves
04:38And it's an idea that runs parallel with Juliet's storyline
04:43And also with
04:47What are the names of the very first episode characters
04:49The very first sheriff
04:50Oh don't know
04:51Okay
04:55Yeah it's a beautiful running theme that we get to explore
04:58Well yeah I think it's true
04:59Like as Joe said
05:01Like what makes us who we are
05:02As the product of our history
05:04Of our experience
05:07I think that's actually a big theme in the show
05:09For better or worse
05:10How we deal with our histories
05:14And then what happens when you lose those histories
05:16I think that's in a way what you're talking about
05:18Like the idea that perspective gets lost
05:21And we only know what we know
05:23Because of the way we've lived our life
05:25And what we've been fed so far
05:27And then suddenly if that disappears
05:29What other stories are we susceptible to?
05:31Take care
05:32And send Charlotte my best
05:35Sure
05:43You met with a reporter
05:44And you thought it was a date
05:48Politicians and reporters
05:49You know
05:50It's transactional
05:51Yes I know
05:53I was
05:55Distracted?
05:58Well
05:59As well as being quite good looking
06:01She's also good at her job
06:02Even if the only one she could get was a shitty one
06:04And the context of memory
06:06What memories mean
06:07And how objective or subjective can they be
06:10Yes exactly
06:10And a lot of the projects you guys have been involved with
06:12Has involved memory
06:14And how we see things
06:15And how we see our world
06:17Yeah I think the show
06:20Sort of points out
06:21That like in an individual
06:22A society needs
06:25To remember its history
06:26And if that is suddenly absent
06:29Then what happens
06:30And it's a way to control
06:32To control information
06:34To control
06:34If you're able to like control history
06:38Then you can
06:39You know
06:40Teach a people anything
06:42No well because it has to do with environment
06:44You know
06:44The environment in the silo
06:46Is obviously much different
06:47The environment outside
06:48But it's just as claustrophobic
06:50Yeah there's a really interesting
06:52That's an interesting thing that you noted
06:54There's a wonderful kind of bottle episode for us
06:58In the middle of the show
06:59Where it felt like we were getting the silo experience
07:02In that we were inside a car
07:04And we had to figure out
07:05How do we not make this tired
07:09Because there's only so many places
07:11You can sit in a car
07:12And realising
07:13Oh gosh that's the challenge
07:14That they have every day over on the silo set
07:16Is how do we shoot the stairwell
07:19In a new and fresh way
07:21For the third season
07:22We were kind of saved from a lot of that
07:25Claustrophobia
07:27Visually
07:27Because where
07:28We got to do
07:29You know location shoots
07:30We were very lucky
07:31But it is there mentally
07:32And psychologically there
07:34She's not at the post?
07:37No
07:37She hasn't been there for a year
07:38She was a bad girl
07:41She's at some
07:42Online sleaze factory now
07:45Still
07:47She's a reporter
07:48She got what she wanted
07:49And you got nothing
07:51What'd she get?
07:52You told her where Charlotte's being traded
07:56And you told her for free
08:00But there's also an understanding and acceptance
08:02Like Robert knows and understands
08:04Why she needs to do what she needs to do
08:07But there's that aspect of trust
08:09And that's sort of the interesting
08:10Sort of
08:11You know
08:12Byproduct of this
08:13Is that
08:13Where the trust
08:14And the truth
08:15Because the truth
08:16Differs
08:17For each of them
08:18Yeah
08:18Absolutely
08:19Yeah well the trust
08:20You know
08:21The trust is
08:23Broken in a way that
08:25It's like
08:26She's
08:27What used to be
08:28What they used to have
08:29Like we would communicate
08:30All our truths
08:32And things we know
08:34That we know
08:34Some things
08:35Robert had told
08:36Camille
08:37That he wasn't supposed to
08:38You know
08:39But
08:40When she got put in that position
08:42It wasn't
08:44You know
08:44It wasn't reciprocated
08:46So that trust is like
08:47Oh and then
08:49You're also trying to trust
08:51Like do you
08:52Like when you're looking at your wife
08:54And saying like
08:54Do you understand what you're doing right now
08:57And do you understand
08:57Like
08:58You seemed way more aware
09:00Just
09:00This last episode
09:01Than 2010
09:02That was only like
09:04You know
09:05A few hours ago
09:06So
09:06Like what's going on
09:08So
09:09That's definitely
09:10Like a trust
09:11Space
09:12That like
09:12Like just
09:12Got broken
09:13And so
09:15The truth as we know
09:16Is a theme
09:17Through this whole
09:18Series
09:20Silo itself
09:20And I'm
09:21Like it's amazing
09:22To see these characters
09:23Have to find out
09:24What truth is
09:25And truth does change
09:26For people at times
09:28And Robert's truth changed
09:30And maybe Camille's did too
09:32Yeah absolutely
09:33And we had
09:33It's funny
09:34We were talking about
09:35Truth and trust
09:35Because
09:36Remember the amount
09:37Of off screen conversations
09:38We had
09:38When we try and talk
09:40Through the characters
09:41As motives
09:41And we'd be like
09:42Surely you know her though
09:43You should trust
09:44That what she's doing
09:45Is for a greater
09:46You know
09:47So there was
09:47Those conversations as well
09:49Madam Mayor
09:52It's okay Jerry
09:53Mr. Knox
09:55I just wanted to ask
09:56About your memory
09:58Anything coming back
09:59Getting better every day
10:01Yeah
10:03So
10:05Nothing more about
10:06What it was like outside
10:07No
10:08Just what we've seen
10:09Hmm
10:11Do you remember me
10:12Do you know who I am
10:14Yeah of course she does
10:15You're a pedo
10:15Mechanical
10:16That's right
10:17Right
10:20Well yeah
10:21I was going to ask about that
10:22The claustrophobia
10:23Psychologica
10:24Because you know
10:24Where these things
10:25Sort of go per se
10:27You know where the idea
10:29Of what this world is
10:31And yet you guys
10:31Are sort of the beginning
10:32Of it
10:34Yeah
10:34Could you talk about that
10:35And that we are like
10:37Although it seems like
10:38We are the
10:39Oh god
10:40The word
10:42The word for it
10:42Like a story happening
10:43Like we are the
10:45Flat
10:45Prequel
10:46Flashback
10:47Prequel
10:47Flashback
10:48Yeah
10:48Origin
10:49Origin story
10:50Origin
10:51Yeah
10:52Like yes
10:53In a way
10:54We are the origin story
10:55But actually
10:56Our story is no different
10:57To their story
10:58That we are
10:59Our emotional life
11:00Is in parallel
11:01To their emotional life
11:02You could drop us
11:04In their situation
11:05Or they in ours
11:06And we would be living
11:09Very similar
11:10Emotional realities
11:11Just because of
11:12What we've been fed
11:13And how curious we are
11:14And what we're trying to deal with
11:16There's something I have to do
11:18To protect everyone
11:22You made your choice
11:25You'll die
11:27You're friends
11:28And it's mom
11:29What are you afraid we'll find
11:36We do not know why we are here
11:39We do not know when it will be safe
11:41To go outside
11:45We only know that day
11:48Is not this day
