00:00All right, well, if you liked our last segment banter on Central Asian Capitals, you're going to love what's coming
00:05up next.
00:05We've got BTW Bloomberg this weekend.
00:08What a tease. I'm very excited about it.
00:10I'm here for it. I'm Christina Ruffini. That's David Gura.
00:13And at the end of the table here is Lisa Mateo, who's going to catch us up on some of
00:17the stories you might have missed this week.
00:18Lisa, what do you have for us?
00:19All right, I've got to start with the New York Times because there could be a big celebration this weekend.
00:23I've heard about this.
00:23Lisa, I know where you're going with this. I'm going to walk away from the table.
00:27At MSG. Clues, they actually point to you-know-who.
00:31We're talking about, yes, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
00:35Here's what the sources are telling the Times.
00:37They're saying that Swift booked a multi-day event at MSG.
00:40They don't know what it is.
00:41The first night is going to be July 2nd, about 100 people at the Garden.
00:45Then the next day, about 1,000 people and possibly some stage performances on top of that.
00:51Several members of the Kansas City Chiefs, they booked hotel rooms around the Times Square area.
00:57For that weekend, too.
00:57It is. That is good reporting.
00:59So, I don't know. No one has confirmed it.
01:02It is possible they could maybe get married before and maybe this is an after party or who knows.
01:06But the thing is, it's a busy time.
01:07It's Fourth of July weekend.
01:08They're going to be shutting down streets.
01:10You have the parade of shit.
01:11We've got World Cup.
01:11You have World Cup on top of it.
01:14So, nothing's confirmed, but this could be-
01:16I mean, it's something that's been talked about.
01:18Boy, has it been.
01:18I mean, last weekend we talked about, people were talking about Rhode Island.
01:21Like, it's going to happen last weekend.
01:23You know, that's where they were hoping, but it didn't happen.
01:25So, maybe.
01:26I don't know.
01:27She loves Fourth of July.
01:29That's what-
01:29Does she really?
01:30That's one of her favorite holidays.
01:31I didn't know that.
01:32Wow.
01:33Another funny facet of this article is, I guess, like, she has a plot of, like, a compound.
01:37Yes.
01:38Some place outside the city where she sets up a lot of her stage shows and does choreography.
01:43Apparently, that's, like, busy.
01:45Look at you with your Taylor Swift knowledge.
01:47I mean, look, I'm interested because it affects me.
01:49What have you done with David Gurra?
01:50It affects me as a New Yorker and as a casual listener to Taylor Swift.
01:55Casual.
01:55I love it.
01:56I wish them well.
01:57For what it's worth, I don't buy that this is the ceremony.
02:00You don't think so?
02:00I think, like, an after party or reception is much more likely.
02:02I just don't think that's the vibe.
02:04But, you know, what do I know?
02:06She's a Knicks fan.
02:07Knicks fan, Knicks fan, we found out.
02:08Yeah.
02:09All right, maybe do it.
02:09Time sisters were there with her and...
02:12She had good seats.
02:13You are all of the knowledge of pop stars.
02:14David, I am concerned at the level of Swifty knowledge coming from the center of this table
02:18right now.
02:18They made those shirts.
02:19They made the...
02:19The shirts were cute.
02:21The shirts were cute.
02:21Silkscreen them.
02:23Very nice, David Gurra.
02:24You're done, Lisa.
02:24Let's move on.
02:25Let's move on because you're scaring me.
02:26We don't want them to learn too much about me.
02:28How about ranch dressing?
02:29Are you a fan of ranch dressing?
02:30Sure, I'm actually not.
02:31You're not.
02:31I'm sorry.
02:32I should say yes and.
02:33I'm sorry.
02:34You know who is a fan?
02:36World Cup people from overseas.
02:38I love this.
02:38Okay, so this is in the Atlantic.
02:40It says, what is it about ranch dressing?
02:43Well, let me tell you.
02:43Okay, so they're traveling, you know, to the U.S. for the World Cup.
02:47There's a 24-year-old.
02:48Here's what she says.
02:48Why did no one tell me ranch sauce is like crack?
02:52Ranch sauce.
02:52So the TSA actually posted something and they said, if you're visiting for a very large sporting
02:57event and you happen to discover ranch while you're here, please pack it in your
03:00check bag on the way home.
03:02So people are trying to take this back home.
03:03Four ounces or more, you can't take that back.
03:05Have a problem with it.
03:06And you see Hidden Valley Ranch put out a thing that they're working on, TSA-compliant
03:09ranch packets that you can take.
03:11Like, this is AI, but we're working on it, we promise.
03:13Are you a ranch fan?
03:14I'm a blue cheese person.
03:16Oh, yeah, I prefer blue cheese.
03:17But I appreciate ranch on some things.
03:19And I can't appreciate that if you've never had it before, it is pretty solid.
03:23Tart.
03:23It is.
03:24It's tart.
03:24Yeah.
03:24Buttermilk, you know, it has a little garlic powder, onion powder, herb spices.
03:29You can put it on pizza.
03:29No shade to Hidden Valley, but like people who are new to ranch, there are other better
03:34ranches out there.
03:35I didn't know that there are.
03:36I thought that's the ranch.
03:37I mean, that is the classic, but there's better ranch.
03:39There's other ranch.
03:39We don't endorse a product on this show.
03:42But the reason why they get so excited is because they only get the dry powder.
03:45They don't get like the liquidity stuff.
03:46Oh, interesting.
03:47Does this ever exist in Europe?
03:48Because it's hard to send over.
03:51So that's the reason they get so excited about it.
03:54Stuff it's banned over there.
03:54I'm sure there's something.
03:55Maybe they'll go searching for the Hidden Valley Ranch.
03:58See if they find it.
03:59They've got a few weeks left until the tournament ends.
04:01All right.
04:01Want to talk dating?
04:02Yes.
04:02Okay.
04:02We can move on.
04:03Talk dating.
04:03Sure.
04:04Talk dating.
04:05Yeah.
04:06I love this one.
04:07Okay.
04:07This is from Bloomberg.
04:08Gen Z.
04:09Always about Gen Z.
04:10Always.
04:10I've seen lately.
04:11They would rather not date than pay $250 for dinner and drinks.
04:16Okay.
04:16So this is...
04:16Romance ain't bad, ladies and gentlemen.
04:18It's a Bank of America survey.
04:2151% of Americans, 18 to 29, reported spending $0 on dates a month in 2026.
04:27It's expensive.
04:29It is really expensive.
04:30So are the apps, I guess.
04:31Not appetizers, but the applications that they're using.
04:34Oh, my God.
04:34What is happening today?
04:36I will say, if I go out on a date with someone and they're not getting a second date, I
04:44will
04:44insist on splitting the bill.
04:45Oh, interesting.
04:45Because I think it's really...
04:47Is that a tell?
04:47It is a tell.
04:48Because I think it's really unfair because dinner is so expensive for somebody to have
04:52to pay upwards of $200 if I know I'm not going out there.
04:55Do you think that's a widely shared courtesy?
04:57No, I don't.
04:58Oh.
04:58All right.
04:59Interesting.
04:59Because the cost of, as women, going on dates is a lot more.
05:03We got to do all the products and everything else.
05:05True.
05:05So a lot of people argue the pink tax is offset by guys paying for dinner, which I think
05:09there's a fair argument for that.
05:11However, listen, times are hard.
05:13People do not need to pay for a dinner.
05:15They've already suffered through two hours having to talk to me.
05:17They shouldn't have a financial tax limit for that.
05:19Three hours each day for me.
05:20We're staying in Phoenix.
05:22I mean...
05:22You're literally getting paid to be here and put up with me.
05:24So hush.
05:26Okay.
05:26Do we have time for one more?
05:27We have one more.
05:27Okay.
05:28One more.
05:28Okay.
05:28This is from the Washington Post.
05:29For less than $100, I click my way toward a college degree in days.
05:33Okay.
05:34So let me explain this.
05:35They're talking about those unaccredited online platforms like Sophia Learning, Study.com,
05:39Straight Line.
05:40So you can't get a diploma from them, but a lot of colleges' transfer policies allow the
05:45credits to transfer toward a degree.
05:47Oh, interesting.
05:47So that's what a lot of people are doing.
05:49So this person from the Washington Post, they took a few courses, and they found out that
05:53only a few hours to complete a cost.
05:55It costs as little as $17 each.
05:57So they're saying a lot of people are catching on and going this route for the more affordable
06:01college degree.
06:03And there are even so-called tutors you can hire for about $70 to complete the entire course
06:08for you.
06:09Yeah.
06:09I saw that coming.
06:10So, yeah, it's a new way to get a degree because the cost of college.
06:15I mean, believe me, it is not affordable at this point.
06:19Yeah, have fun with that, you two.
06:20My dog's not going to college, so we're going to be fine.
06:22We'll work on that.
06:23Thanks, Lisa.
06:23Lisa, thank you very much.
06:24Quick reminder here.
06:25Be sure to join us on July 4th for a special edition of Bloomberg This Weekend, Celebrating
06:29America 250.
06:30We're going to broadcast live from the Intrepid on the Hudson River in New York from 7 to 11
06:34o'clock Eastern Time.
06:35Of course, the invitation is open for Taylor Swift, Mr. Kelsey, to join us if they are here
