00:1249-year-old Lee Ryojin was charged with abandoning 36 live cats, causing them to starve,
00:18and with abandonment that led to the deaths of 41 other cats back in March.
00:23The Selangor Veterinary Services Department, DVS, had raided the unit
00:27after receiving complaints of a foul smell.
00:30Investigators found 41 cat carcasses, wrapped and stored in a freezer,
00:34with some scattered in the living room and in cages.
00:37Another 36 cats were found emaciated and weakened.
00:41The charges against Lee fall under the Animal Welfare Act 2015.
00:44If convicted, she faces a fine of between 20,000 ringgit and 100,000 ringgit,
00:50or up to three years in jail, or both, for each charge.
