00:00Hey!
00:00Hey!
00:01Oh!
00:01Pandora!
00:03Pandora!
00:04What you need to do is get control of Pandora.
00:07If dogs go wild...
00:10They are absolutely nuts.
00:12Is there a dog around?
00:15I can't control them.
00:17Come on now, big boy.
00:18Nathan thinks he can read.
00:20Surely he can.
00:20He can't.
00:21Is it a dog?
00:22Of course he can.
00:22And get up.
00:23Oh, there we go.
00:24No, get down.
00:25To no good.
00:26It's always me now, is it?
00:28I'm honoured.
00:28Or down.
00:30oh no and dirty he loves a big large crap oh tank likes to rub his boy parts what is
00:40going
00:40on with you tank when pops wonder what we're gonna learn today need to be schooled three two
00:47one that's it fantastic look at that or if your pooch he's dropped one they got a whiff has a
00:54personal problem some dogs have bacterias that are gas producing just in case one man
01:04will give it his all yeah leave it and get answers i think i might know what's going on
01:11and it's not what you think to any doggy dilemma yeah that's next level isn't it
01:20this week we definitely lost business because of them an antique shop on the brink of becoming
01:27history no they say that they're dog friendly but i'm not sure they are as battling brothers
01:33scare away customers i'm really not sure that i want to go in morning everybody excitement reaches
01:40fever pitch at puppy school calm down all right with their toughest lesson yet try caller now
01:49spoiler alert recall is possibly one of the hardest things you can train off troy and a
01:55doberman's brush with death no he's had four operations on his stomach four wow could spell
02:02real disaster he's gonna harm himself it's a bad situation no oh graham's starting his week in
02:12kingslyn norfolk i've been a dog trainer now for well the best part of 20 years and running my own
02:19business you know it does bring an awful lot of freedom you know i'm my own boss and i really
02:23like
02:23that it suits me he's heading to meet a couple after his own heart louise and mark opened their
02:30antique shop 13 years ago let me go back that way with it business was booming that was until boxer
02:37cross basset hound brothers ernie and walter came on board please ring bell as dogs are loose
02:45exclamation mark exclamation mark oh well better follow the instructions
02:53this does not bird well hello you're friendly hi hi nice to meet you hi hi hi nice to meet
03:04you
03:04i'm just gonna get some leads and then we can get out okay fair enough yeah it's a pretty full
03:09-on
03:09experience when you first arrive at this business because you hear earlier walter before you see them
03:15and the sound it don't sound friendly since arriving two-year-olds ernie and walter have caused
03:22mayhem they are a handful 95 of the time they're lovely no no five percent of the time
03:37carnage and for a shop that is dependent on passing trade
03:43sadly the trade is passing i think we definitely lost business because of them you can see someone's
03:49come to the gate seeing the dogs and walked away again brave customers who do make it inside
03:55no walter aren't left to peruse in peace it's a bit intimidating down down i think the last two
04:05years since having them i think they have put on a serious amount of added pressure i think it must
04:11put
04:11people off coming back it must do with five children at home to feed and two employees on the books
04:18they
04:18simply can't afford for it to fail i'm worried about us being able to make more money which is what
04:24we need
04:25to do especially in this day and age with uh cost to live on crosses our business supports three
04:30families so this needs to be a sorted out despite the problems louise and mark love the dogs far too
04:38much to let them go i couldn't imagine my life without them but at the same time they make our
04:44life so
04:45hard they just need fixing i think they're fixable we just don't know how to fix them we don't know
04:51how
04:53steak the pressure is on for graham to bring back the customers hey it's a proper aladdin's cave this
05:00isn't it it smells lovely there as well it's like old wood and yeah i guess the old waxes the
05:04stains
05:05yeah yeah the old oils on the face of it they're a bit full on ernie and walter the truth
05:11is they're
05:12actually really friendly they're getting excited and barky because they want to say hello i noticed you
05:18got a bell at the uh the gate there so when the bell goes they go absolutely nuts ernie normally
05:24attacks walter poor old walter and if customers bring a dog in that's it oh it's carnage that's
05:29up a level must be the only shop in the country we uh get not annoyed when customers oh yeah
05:33you
05:34should be happy you get customers we're not we're like oh my god graham's seen how they react to
05:39people now he wants to see what happens with four-legged customers but this time graham's hearing
05:48something far more concerning and it's not excitement it's a very different sound it's way louder
05:58that they're not happy to have somebody walking in they're probably saying a swear word and go away
06:08walter no no it's just a normal dog at the office yeah yeah come on beware in two seconds yeah
06:16sorry
06:17about this i'm really not sure that i want to go in they said that they're dog friendly but i'm
06:22not sure
06:22where they are come on come on in you go come on she's uh she's gone with your customer that
06:32happens
06:32quite a lot does it yeah yeah she didn't hang around silly question why don't you leave them at home
06:39because we are here basically seven days a week uh probably work long hours as well i guess running
06:45your own business yeah absolutely you have to come work together as well don't you there's two of them
06:48both boys yeah it's not as though they can't stand each other and they're fighting all the time but
06:53they sometimes turn on each other yeah it's weird it's the minute someone comes to that gate and then
06:59they turn on each other right for graham this behavior is ringing alarm bells their excitement
07:07flips to aggression and often a bust up which is a big problem they put the two together and they
07:14fire
07:14off each other and they are stubborn dogs which might give me a problem in training do you know
07:20what i've got a lot on my plate today coming up give it your best shot graham's back at puppy
07:27school
07:28that was interesting she looked a bit cloddy there where a reluctant student is raising alarm bells
07:33right i've spotted something he meets a doberman who's balmy for brushes oh blimey and a parrot who
07:41thinks it's hilarious sat there on his perch going look at these idiots yeah and will ernie and walter
07:48ever become model employees they don't know it yet but i'm about to ring the bell three two one
08:03graham's at an antique shop where customers are fast becoming history they said that they're dog
08:09friendly but i'm not sure they are no no ernie and walter's over excited meet and greet is putting
08:16off customers it's like a switch doorbell goes and they are mental as they scare off passing trade from
08:23local dog walkers louise and mark are losing faith they'll ever get these two under control we've tried
08:30many times various methods of training we've tried on them and we can't master them graham is confident he
08:36can turn these gatekeepers into calm greeters if he can stop them winding each other up
08:43i always think training two dogs at the same time it's not just twice as difficult as one dog because
08:49you think you're there and then it only takes one to choke up and they're both away and they're always
08:55together they've never really been apart and the best place to start is the trigger that sets them off
09:00i think we should start with the doorbell for ernie and walter the doorbell means one thing someone's
09:08arriving and that anticipation is pushing their excitement levels through the roof and if they're
09:15already here with excitement when they see a person or a dog they're going to just spike out of control
09:20that's what we're seeing right now so if we can get them desensitized to the doorbell yeah then it goes
09:27ding-dong they go yeah i'm a bothered maybe there are two or three out of ten excited and we've
09:32got
09:32half a chance when they get outside and the way to do that is to ring it a lot with
09:35nobody there
09:37yeah makes sense armed with a remote graham's plan is simple they don't know it yet but i'm about to
09:44ring the bell three two one ring the doorbell there we go off they go bosh open the door nobody
09:50there
09:51right until ernie and walter lose all interest in it actually it's interesting they were quite
09:56excited but they weren't barking and shouting with no visitor at the gate hello boys they switch to
10:02searching inside well something going on because i've heard that ding dong and there's nobody outside so
10:07maybe there's somebody in the back of the barn graham wants to show them
10:14there's nobody there no he's always angry about it ding dong doesn't mean there's reason to get
10:22worked up and again hello wally why did you bark wally i have no idea where i bark
10:33bless him i'm hoping the penny's going to drop isn't it doorbell it's nowhere near as exciting as it used
10:40to be the only problem with this is i have no idea how long this is going to take no
10:46didn't know what
10:48to do then did he right now he's at the stage where he's like you never know yeah there might
10:53still be somebody out there after finding nothing to get excited about both dogs are calming down
11:01there's nobody there ding dong they've come in again hello hello walter hello right now this is
11:09interesting they're starting to come and check in on us let's try again now it's taken an hour oh
11:16that's good nothing silence penny might have dropped yay good boy good boy but now the doorbell gets
11:24nothing that was really good that was good yeah now they're desensitized to the sound
11:33did you hear that exactly hello wally hello hello stage two how to give a warm welcome to actual
11:43customers it's time to introduce a person at the gate if we ring the bell they go outside see the
11:49people if they jump and they bark we're gonna do nothing once the dogs calm down they can then come
11:56through the gate okay earlier the bell was the trigger for total chaos now graham's hoping desensitizing
12:03them will keep them calm when people arrive but it's still a gamble i only need one of them to
12:11get it
12:11wrong and bark and they're both going to be barking aren't they could be a long day right here we
12:17go
12:24that's a lot calmer hey this is good oh yeah you're right hey look at this wow good boys
12:31wow did not expect to see that stage two of mission warm welcome has beaten the odds wow i didn't
12:39expect anything like that it was amazing but it could still go wrong so what we'll do now is your
12:46next thing is you would pop them on lead yeah if they stay calm they can hang out with the
12:51visitors
12:51come on in guys come on yeah lovely but only if all four paws remain on the ground at all
12:57times
12:58this by the way is very good so if this is good what should we be doing good boy well
13:02done and they
13:03must be rewarded for doing so and you can give him a little fuss if you like he's a nice
13:08man but
13:10the moment they jump up the meet and greet is over that's it yeah you know yeah he should be
13:17thinking
13:18what what what did i do what did i do right he is i think yeah you see the game
13:23we're playing if they're
13:24good the people come to them if they jump the people go away right yeah come back through the
13:28dogs are calm good boy that's it this time walter's staying calmly on all fours good boy oh this is
13:38brilliant i don't think they've ever been this calm well i'll tell you what why don't we go inside we
13:45could even let them off lead see what happens yeah thank you after you now instead of the usual
13:50over-excited barking running and jumping goodbye wall there you go ernie and walter's meet and greet
13:57is calm and respectful hey look at this
14:04nice to turn up for the books
14:08very good yeah that is amazing they are like different dogs it's great isn't it and it's easy
14:13to replicate in it i can't believe after just such a short period and just such simple instructions
14:21the dogs had and it just what difference it makes this morning when i first rang that bell the sound
14:28that came out of the barn was pretty scary but i think this afternoon you'd see those two dogs come
14:34out of the barn and you wouldn't need to be a dog expert to know that lovely dogs our stress
14:40levels are
14:40going to come down yeah you might have more customers yeah which helps yeah might even have
14:46a positive effect on the bottom line there two-legged visitors are one thing but other dogs are the real
14:55problem it's territorial and it needs a completely different approach so graham will have to come back
15:03and tackle it before that he's heading 80 miles west to a stable near leicester oh off troy off off
15:15four-year-old doberman troy let's go goes bonkers for brushes because he's got the bristles i can't
15:22get them off him no oh it's 50 kilograms so no let's go this is like he will not let
15:30you have it
15:31that is his and i don't like that kind of vibe let's go troy's tug of war game makes life
15:37impossible
15:38for amelie let go troy let go you need a brush to do all the stables you need a brush
15:45to sweep the yard
15:46you need a brush to sweep the gangway a brush is going to be involved pretty much all the time
15:53this is his heaven and my hell no it's off that's off off off get off off off morning
16:07right i see your problem yeah yeah he won't let go no you won't will he and if i
16:14when i try and get it with my hands that's when he's accidentally bit me oh he's got you yeah
16:18yeah so i don't want to do that oh you've got no chance have you no no you can't do
16:26it oh that's
16:28it now oh now we've had it let's go yeah it's pretty serious stuff oh well done i tell you
16:36what
16:36shall i just chuck it in the bed chuck it up there yeah thank you it's crystal clear to graham
16:42just how
16:42bad this is but this brush battle is just a warm-up well it's bad here but it's worse at
16:49home really
16:50yes i've got dwayne to contend with dwayne is that your other half you'll see lead on at home amelie's
16:57got an even greater foe to contend with dwayne an african gray parrot who's a very naughty boy
17:06i don't know much about parents i do know they're clever though he's very clever he makes a lot of
17:12mess oh blimey right can't keep up with this and look dwayne's quite happy at the showdown this is tv
17:24for him he's sat there on his perch going look at these here i mean chucking seeds there because you
17:30know that she's then going to get a brush out and you know what happens when a brush comes out
17:34and he
17:34just sits back and just watches the entertainment time and time again he's hilarious he's a joker
17:40that parrot the faster amelie sweeps the more mess dwayne makes on purpose winding troy up even more
17:47until oh he's broken it it's broken it might seem like a big game but the problem is every time
17:57troy
17:57plays it it's a brush with death i'm really concerned about if he bites a brush if he gets
18:05one of the little bristles stuck in his throat or even if he ingests it he's had four operations on
18:10his
18:11stomach four four wow and that's started from when he ate a stick as a puppy they removed between his
18:18small and large intestines and that's the last they can do right they said they cannot operate again
18:22can't do that so if he eats anything that he shouldn't that is it's well it could be the end
18:28of it it could be yeah for troy one swallowed bristle could be game over so graham's got his work
18:34cut out
18:35i think we need to be realistic about how far i'm going to get today particularly with view to dwayne
18:42the parrot he's an evil genius that parrot i'm anything but a pessimist but realistically there's a
18:49lot of ways this can go wrong coming up graham's puppy class gets competitive welcome to the recall
18:56arena loki can struggle with distractions so i think this is going to be a real test loki come
19:03all right here we go graham's called back to king's lynn where ernie and walter are kicking off
19:10at four-legged customers and with a life on the line
19:15oh game over can graham stop dwayne's fun and games and troy's obsession he's not showing any signs
19:24of stopping and i didn't see that coming at this stage
19:34no no no not my new brush in leicester graham is tackling troy's brush obsession
19:41oh he's breaking it and dwayne the african gray is loving every minute he's very clever and he makes
19:49a lot of mess but what looks like a farce could become a tragedy no he's had four operations on
19:57his stomach four operations wow they said they cannot operate again if he did swallow something
20:02like a piece of brush it would be the game over the pressure is on graham to get a fix
20:08and kill two birds
20:10with one stone no oh if graham can fix the broom issues it will hopefully fix the parrot issues
20:19because dwayne will find it boring therefore he will keep his seeds in his cage and i will have
20:24to sweeten them up and then it's everyone's winning graham's theory is simple troy loves the attention
20:30and excitement of the game with mum anybody who knows dobies will tell you they form a really strong
20:37bond with their person they just love being together with them why don't we use that to help
20:43us fix the problem and you've got budgies as well it's pearl and dean the plan is to use a
20:49new game
20:50with new rules staying calm scores attention but go for the brush and game over if he doesn't react or
20:58he looks and goes nah all of those things would be a reason to say good boy if he makes
21:04the wrong
21:04decision we're gonna say game over and then we take him out he's out there thinking no i want to
21:13be
21:13with my mum and that's what i'm bargaining on graham's gambling on one more thing if troy ignores the
21:20brush dwayne loses the entertainment and should stop dropping seeds so let's just see what happens if i
21:27good boy with dwayne keeping watch from his perch across the room oh nearly so if he does that again
21:36you know what to say troy has everyone's attention
21:42game over oh well done blimey i nearly went out myself then don't mess with that do you good tone
21:50of
21:50voice
21:53tempting though it is we've got to wait for a pause troy can only rejoin mum when he's calm
22:02good i think you're letting back in there yep on lead good boy is he gonna no all right
22:10game over and we just keep repeating this if troy loses his cool game over he's sent out before the
22:21brush game even starts much to dwayne's disappointment but now troy appears to prefer the new game
22:30so he's taking himself off to bed fine all right okay i'll crack on and do a bit good boy
22:38one nil to
22:39team graham good well this is different but will he play ball when mum takes control now word of
22:48warning don't go bananas oh now that's interesting all right game over come on you're blowing it out
22:58that's a little lad troy is trying to restart the game let's try again young man go on then no
23:06game over you know the score and keeps getting sent off he's a bit like a teenager he's like oh
23:14right should we try again but instead of calming down all right game over each time he's coming back
23:23more determined to put on the show dwayne's desperate for now this is unexpected he's barking
23:29his head off of the mirror he's not showing any signs of stopping right game over and i didn't see
23:37that coming at this stage so what's going wrong here but graham spotted something hang on a minute what is
23:46he looking at he's not looking at the brush he's barking his head off and looking at mum and there's
23:54the clue in a minute when he comes down i'm gonna let him get nearer to you good boy there
24:01we go yeah
24:02look see he's not focused on the brush right now he's just like mum mum mum i don't want to
24:07be apart from
24:08here so graham wants to flip the focus if he behaves he can stay near mum so i can keep
24:15a hold
24:15of him yeah and we can do a little bit of brushing while he's at your side maybe let's just
24:19see how
24:20we get on no good boy okay tiny bit of a brush and pause good boy all right bit more
24:30brushing troy
24:31is learning that staying calm oh lovely that's good keeps him close to mum your boy and that the
24:37brush is no longer a toy that's really good oh hello okay i'm honored right this is good
24:48and just like that troy turns a blind eye to amelie's sweeping up good boy oh that's brilliant
24:54much to dwayne's great disappointment well what do you reckon i'm super impressed
25:01until now troy's brush obsession has been the spark for dwayne's favorite trick making a mess so mum
25:08has to clean up but if troy sticks to the new rules it could put an end to the dangerous
25:14fun and games
25:15once and for all let's see if you can sweep up some seeds because you definitely couldn't do it this
25:21morning that's it you carry on sweeping well he's watching intently but he's not doing anything about it
25:32mission accomplished nailed it brilliant fantastic good boy well done troy who's the clever boy then
25:42i'm actually quite speechless because i didn't think that we'd be able to sweep some seeds up without
25:48it going crazy sure there's work to do how many's got to do this training down at the yard as
25:54well
25:54but i think the future's really bright for them all now you are clever
26:02graham's taking a break from badly behaved dogs to stop the next generation ending up on his books
26:09for the last four months he's been running puppy classes in the cotswolds giving these young pups the
26:16milestone skills they'll need for life so far they've studied socialization good boy
26:23basic commands sit good and loose lead walking yay good girl and today's milestone is recall
26:35today's training is i think one of the hardest things you can teach a dog whether they're young
26:40or old frankly but it's really important back in class are mary and colin with farm dog mr todd
26:48are you excited charlotte with future office dog boo a bit more learning today lorraine with daughter
26:55sean helping for the first time with loki and karen with daughter orla and rescue pup winnie let's go
27:03inside morning everybody hi welcome back they're a bit bigger than last time
27:11they're enormous so today's lesson is something that's going to give the dogs a bit more freedom
27:16are you ready yeah yeah come on then follow me let's start when it comes to getting your
27:23dog to come back to you when called graham wants to give the owners the best possible foundation
27:30because one of the biggest mistakes is letting dogs off lead too soon
27:35dot then expecting them to come back when called donsy come back turning walks into muddy chases
27:42no come back vanished dogs and near misses you don't want to think about oh jasmine the problem is
27:52dogs don't speak human so first they need to learn exactly what you're asking and graham's first rule
27:59of recall make coming back the most exciting game in town first of all i'm just going to demo of
28:06something so whenever we get mr todd i'm going to pop him on a long line there we go have
28:11you got any
28:11treats that you usually have so i'm going to let him know what i've got and then without saying very
28:16much hey what's this what's this yeah good boy because everything we've done so far at puppy school
28:24it's all been about keeping a lid on excitement staying calm but recall you can be as excited as
28:30you like yay that's the very beginnings of the system but i'm bedding in this hey look if you run
28:37to
28:38me it's great isn't it what didn't i do say come here or come on yeah there was no recall
28:44command at this stage
28:46before they can introduce the command all the pups need to learn the game
28:50so all you're gonna do get your dog in position and you're gonna run backwards that way and see
28:55if you can get your dog to follow you and remember excitement first up is loki getting him excited is
29:02easy look at that i'll catch you the problem is he always takes it too far calm down calm down
29:11all right calm down hey no you know i said fill your boots with excitement that didn't refer to you
29:17next up is winnie and for this rescue pup recall training couldn't come sooner
29:24ola looks like you're doing the handling are you yep well done so my partner took winnie to the field
29:30behind us and let her off and she bolted she did not come back to her name it was just
29:37absolute panic
29:38right then give it your best shot right let's go that's it that was interesting do that again for me
29:48because she looked a bit ploddy there didn't she wasn't as keen no then there might be a reason for
29:53that right i've spotted something if i'm your dog and i'm i'm being pulled this way what am i going
30:03to do
30:03resist correct try that again but without the tension in the lead yeah okay off you go there
30:11you go keep going keep going keep going that's it brilliant clever girl there you go now all the pups
30:18are excited to chase their owners for a treat great lesson two connect that chase with a command
30:25so if i can borrow him again now each time toddy come graham marks the action with a clear command
30:35there we go let's try a bit further away toddy come there you go good boy let's get you back
30:43to your
30:44mom graham wants everyone to use their dog's name and a command they'll remember i might choose come back
30:51because that is what i say when she goes really far naturally i say come back brilliant if that
30:55comes naturally to you that's fine it's key to use the exact words every time off you go then that's
31:04it who come i thought you said you were going to say come back try again the theory is that
31:14by using
31:15the same command who come back during the chase games who come back boo should connect running to
31:23charlotte with those magic words well she knows the game now you see good you've got the idea now over
31:30to loki but will his excitement get the better of him lucky come yeah that's it there you go
31:40understandably lorraine tries to keep a lid on her excitement and if you possibly could make your
31:45voice a bit louder bright that would work even better but for this to work loki must learn the
31:50command hey that worked because your voice was a bit louder a bit brighter yay well done now loki
32:00knows what's expected he's a little less excitable graham's built recall in stages the chase game
32:09good boy then the command tonny come now comes the real test will they come back on words alone so
32:18welcome to the recall arena what i'm going to do is ask you all to come in one by one
32:25see if you can
32:26recall your dog from one corner of this to the other off lead first in is loki he's done well
32:34with
32:34lorraine but graham wants daughter sian to try and recall him but can he focus sian you up for it
32:41yeah i think so i do know that loki can struggle with distractions so i think this is going to
32:47be a
32:47real real test okay so remember really bright happy call yeah i was really nervous about whether he was
32:55going to actually come back to me off you go loki come yay fantastic that's it yeah good boy hello
33:06boo
33:07now little boo but will charlotte remember the command
33:12boo come back right lovely good girl like a shot never seen such a little dog run so fast have
33:20you
33:21come back next mr tod tod toddy come is a natural fantastic hey i'm loving that and last to enter
33:30the
33:30arena is winnie how are you feeling now yeah all right still a bit nervous that's okay ola has good
33:37cause to be nervous last week winnie bolted went off lead and wouldn't come back leading up to the very
33:44last part with the recall i was really worried due to winnie not really having any so graham wants to
33:51really test winnie by adding a distraction i've got food and she knows it right try calling out
33:59winnie come winnie come come on winnie come right take a step forward when she looks at you go backwards
34:12yeah okay try again winnie come come on yes there you go yay good girl well done i pushed you
34:24there but i
34:24thought you could both do it when winnie came back i was so relieved because it's such a big thing
34:30for
34:30her so now to see that she has a bit more recall is absolutely amazing well done everybody i thought
34:36that was great obviously you got to keep it up you want to get to that stage where they hear
34:41the call
34:41it's automatic i'm off you know there's one thing i would want you to remember about recall
34:45make it from give yourselves a round of applause yeah well done yay good galby coming up graham might
34:56have got ernie and walter to welcome people into the shop three two one off we jolly well go but
35:02dogs
35:02proved to be a far tougher challenge i don't think i've ever seen ernie react like that he boys doing
35:09somersaults graham's heading back to see louise and mark in norfolk they run an antique shop where
35:22passing dog walkers should mean passing trade but their two-year-old box across basset hound brothers
35:29ernie and walter are scaring customers off i think we definitely lost business because of them and with
35:37five kids between them and a business that supports three families this needs to change
35:43last time graham used desensitization training to bring their excitement levels down
35:50did you hear that nothing exactly and taught them how to meet and greet people nicely hey this is good
35:58but when customers have dogs their excitement explodes into aggression
36:04and that's the problem graham needs to fix today now that's a problem because a lot of people do walk
36:11in with dogs and then well they do behave in quite an aggressive way it's not very nice to get
36:18ernie and
36:18walter used to socializing with other dogs graham's brought them to neutral territory graham's helped us
36:25previously with the doorbell issue we had and that worked so well i'm hoping he can work his magic on
36:32this one but i'm not sure today french bulldog dexter is bravely volunteering with these two
36:39they sort of run each other up you know so i think what we're going to do is put some
36:43distance
36:44between themselves as well as the other dog right just wait for it
36:53ernie no water no all right just wait for it the principle is let the excitement pass
37:01and do nothing but mark the behavior you want
37:07the moment they settle right you know what to do i'll go and see all these
37:13good boy good boy that's better well while walter is calm ernie isn't
37:19all right let's wait for him to calm down again but by remembering the principle of ignoring the bad
37:24and praising the good good boy good boy well done ernie oh my goodness look at him yeah mark quickly
37:34turns it around so far so good mark that's really good we're getting there i think i don't think i've
37:39ever seen ernie react like that he's doing somersault three two one off we jolly well go
37:49yep that'll do us fantastic hey i'm happy with that it's time to get closer you ready yeah right
37:57come with me louise we're gonna split the difference now the storm has passed graham is confident the
38:03dogs know what's expected well this is interesting because ernie kicked off to start with but he's calmed
38:10down so let's see if he can keep calm when we move the dogs closer together that'll be a big
38:15test
38:16oh this does feel a lot closer doesn't it i reckon we do 10 places everybody hey three two one
38:22off we
38:23go lovely and we'll try and keep abreast of each other good boy walter super really nice good boy
38:31by walking together the pressure drops that's it good boy annie good boy tell you what we could
38:38squeeze in a bit tighter you know both dogs are settling that's pretty good isn't it look at that great
38:51walk but doing nothing and staying calm keeps ernie's outburst brief
38:58good boy that's it good boy and after a few more rounds all right let's go again everybody the plan
39:06is
39:07working for the first time the brothers are with another dog and they're not kicking off
39:14well what do you reckon amazed i'll settle for amazed yeah yeah out here it's working but the real test
39:22is
39:22back on home turf we need to do the same thing again i think they're probably going to kick off
39:29but
39:29what we learned this morning was yeah you get a bit of a storm but after the storm becomes calm
39:34for stage two graham's brought in paul and labrador max good all right here we go if ernie and walter
39:42are going to accept dogs near the shop they need to learn this protest all you like nobody's leaving
39:54so at this stage we just wait for it right
40:01wait for it no any any no there you go good boy good boy that's right give him a moment
40:09good boy
40:11you see by now normally you'd have been inside and put the dogs away yeah we'd have put them away
40:17yeah
40:18the next stage is for max to come through the gate
40:22i think it's probably going to blow up again but you know what to do don't you yeah calm do
40:26nothing
40:26yeah there you go mate good there we go
40:35boy good boy good boy as per he's come down first good boy ernie so it's definitely a lot shorter
40:42that
40:42yeah that was yeah well this is brilliant the obvious next move is to ask paul and max to walk
40:47in the shop
40:49and then but whatever happens we'll just go in until now any dog coming near the shop has meant one
40:56thing chaos have they done enough to turn it around all right paul
41:07it seems so right we'll follow them in good boy this is brilliant good boys yeah in you go come
41:15on
41:15go on chap for the first time in two years brilliant the shop is well and truly dog friendly again
41:24well it's not about you but i thought that was quite surprising having those two with another dog
41:30in here like this is incredible yeah so i think going forward you know if you've got customers with
41:36dogs that you could ask to help out yeah you just need the time to ride the storm yeah and
41:42you'll end up
41:42with a result like this every time amazing it's just going to be life-changing for us if we can
41:48have
41:49calm dogs like this when people come in i mean people might actually stay yes and the longer
41:56they stay the more they spend today's gone amazingly well from knowing what they're like when they get
42:03super excited from that point to them basically laying on the floor it's just been incredible it's
42:10been amazing i never thought we'd get to that stage i think that's been a great result today i'm chuffed
42:16i mean we've got happy dogs happy business owners and happy customers as well that's got to be good
42:21on it in leicester whilst troy has stopped attacking brushes dwayne is still hoping for a show i can
42:32manage to sweep dwayne's seeds he still occasionally throws them out to annoy me but he hasn't gone for
42:38the broom and i haven't bought a new one since you've been which has been brilliant in kings lynn
42:43ernie and walter's staff training is going well they're definitely not as reactive to dogs and
42:49definitely better with the doorbell doorbell yeah they uh keep pressing don't we yeah they're
42:54definitely chilled out on that one and across the country our puppies have been doing their homework
43:00on recall and there's real progress although sydney's a little too enthusiastic
43:11if you think your badly behaved dog could do with graham's help then why not get in touch details can
