00:00Yeah, that is, I would say, in contrast with the notion that the plan is just to get the Niners
00:07to release him with all of the videos that he's posting and just basically agitating and being a nuisance on
00:15social media to San Francisco and at times calling them names, cursing at them, whatever else he's done.
00:21You would think by saying, the second you cut me, I'm signing with the commanders, which he said yesterday, cut
00:28me the next day, I'm with the commanders. How does that help that cause, in other words?
00:34No, it doesn't. Again, we're ascribing rationality to an irrational person. You know what I mean? You're correct. Any reasonable
00:40human being can see this and go, well, that's not the best course of action. Neither is that, neither is
00:44that, neither is that, neither is that.
00:45Here it is, just the easy, lowest hanging fruit of all time. Pluck that fruit, just go to the regular
00:50human thing. He doesn't do that. He does all this other kind of stuff.
00:53So again, when we're trying to go, he's just trying to, like, you don't speak Iyuk. You see what I'm
00:58saying? Like, he's just trying to, people who are summarizing it, you sure about that? You know what I mean?
01:03Like, he obviously wants to play here, I guess, so now I'm talking to both sides of my mouth. He
01:07wants to play here, wants to play with his buddy, and has taken the worst track ever to try to
01:11go do that.
01:12So maybe it eventually happens, but it's hard for me not to think less of anyone that's going, yep, awesome!
01:18If you go, it's worth kicking the tires, because the receiving room stinks.
01:21Okay, I guess I can understand that, but I can't imagine being excited about this.
01:26That was from ESPN Today, Ian Rappaport of NFL Network.
01:30There is one other element of this Iyuk thing that I think is not being talked about enough,
01:36which is Brandon Iyuk has had one phenomenal season.
01:41He was a second-team All-Pro in 2023.
01:46That was an unbelievable year.
01:49It was, by the way, three football seasons ago coming up this fall.
01:52But it was 75 catches, 1,300 yards, seven touchdowns.
01:55And he did it with the best play caller possibly in the league, Kyle Shanahan,
02:01with a quarterback who was in MVP consideration at the time,
02:04with a supporting cast receiver that included another former second-team All-Pro, Debo Samuel,
02:11who had a year like that in San Fran,
02:13and Kittle, one of the best tight ends, and McCaffrey, one of the best running backs.
02:16My point is, there are weapons all over the place that might help you to get a little less attention.
02:21But other than that year, and I'm not going to take away from that season,
02:25it was exceptional and remarkable.
02:28He's had one 1,000-yard year, and it was 10-15.
02:30It wasn't 1,100. It wasn't 1,200.
02:32It was like an early career Terry McLaurin year, 78 for 10-15.
02:37Now, the same thing I just said about all the mouths to feed in San Francisco that help him be
02:40great,
02:40it also can take away.
02:42You're not heavily targeted. You're not heavily involved.
02:44What have you.
02:46But yardage totals in his career, he's got the 1,342, the All-Pro year.
02:51He has another year where he went for 1,000, and it's 826 and 748.
02:55And then there was the year where he had seven games before he got hurt,
02:58and he was really struggling after signing the big extension.
03:00He had 374 yards.
03:02This is a two-time 900-yard wide receiver.
03:05So when people say, yeah, but I'll bet you the Eagles were glad they brought in Terrell Owens
03:10and dealt with him, they got to a Super Bowl.
03:11This isn't Terrell Owens.
03:14We keep comping him to these unbelievable wide receiver talents
03:17where it was worth it to just sign up for the problems
03:20because you got one of the great players in the league.
03:23It is possible he could get back to that because he was that for one season.
03:27That has not been the norm, and it is not a guarantee after his injury.
03:31He has not played at a super high level in three years.
03:36Stephon Diggs, who has had run-ins and worn out his welcome a couple different spots,
03:42posted his own video yesterday.
03:43Now, he was wearing ridiculous pantalons.
03:45His pants were stupid, if I can say that.
03:47Who cares?
03:48I do.
03:48But I put that aside because all he was doing was running routes and catching footballs.
03:52They look good to me.
03:53I'm not a scout.
03:54Someone could tell me, yeah, he looked better three years ago or four years ago, whatever.
03:58Could help the football team, and that's the kind of video you could post.
04:02This is what should be happening.
04:04Sign that guy.
04:05End this nonsense.
04:06The dude that can help you that went for 1,000 yards last year, who you don't have.
04:11Sign that guy right now.
04:12He's from here.
04:13Go ahead.
04:13Do it right now.
04:14And if you have to overpay, you've got a billion dollars in cap space because you don't like
04:17spending money.
04:19It's so solvable.
04:20It's so easy.
04:21It's lower than the low-hanging fruit that Brandon Aukes got to just drive to the facility
04:25one time, put that son of a bitch in park, leave it running if you have to.
04:28Duck your head and go, I'm here, and then you can walk out just to say that you reported.
04:32Stephon Diggs is right down the road catching footballs in stupid pants.
04:35Sign that guy.
04:36Sign him.
04:37At its core, what is really hard for me is just the rewarding of tomfoolery.
04:45Suffering fools.
04:46That's what's hard.
04:47So, yes, Stephon Diggs has had his own problems, by the way, with teammates and teams.
04:51He actually has legal issues that he's had where there have been allegations against him.
04:56To my knowledge, there's been nothing like that with Brandon Aukes.
04:59You can make the case that Brandon Aukes is a better dude, possibly, probably.
05:03I don't know.
05:04But to my knowledge, currently, Stephon Diggs has done all the things he needs to do to
05:10get back into a clean standing in society.
05:14And he is trying to play football, acting like a professional, saying and doing all the
05:18right things this offseason.
05:20And the videos he's posting are him grinding, to your point.
05:22I would rather sign him.
05:24I don't care if we're talking politicians.
05:26I don't care if we're talking, you know, TV stars.
05:32It's just we go back to one of my major gripes of actions matter.
05:37Like, please just act accordingly.
05:39We all have this contract with society to try to help each other out and get by as best
05:45we can and just to work within the, color within the lines a little bit of what is normal, reasonable.
05:54And are his videos hurting anybody?
05:56No.
05:57Do they make him a bad guy?
05:58No.
05:58But I'm deciding, if I want to bring him into this workplace, where you've got to be one
06:03of 53, where you've got to be 1.8% of this team, do I think he'll be a good
06:12influence on
06:13the other 98.1%?
06:17I do not.
06:18But, so my question to you guys, 800-636-1067 is, will this be a normal move when the commanders
06:25make it in terms of how we view Adam Peters?
06:29Like any other addition signing, is this the same as when you go get a corner or you bring
06:35in a linebacker?
06:36You sign Leo Chennault.
06:37Or because he's worked with him, he was with him in San Francisco, because of all these videos
06:43that are being posted, because of how loud all this is, is this actually in some way going
06:47to be like an endorsement or referendum moment on his decision making?
06:51That's larger than a normal free agent one-year deal.
06:54Charles is in D.C.
06:55What's up, Charles?
06:57Grant and Danny, this will definitely look bad on Adam Peters if they bring this guy in.
07:04This guy is showing you exactly who he is.
07:08How do you, Peter's, I'm going to assume that he's bringing this guy in based off of
07:15how he knew him to be three, two, three seasons or two, three years ago.
07:19This does not appear to be the same player that he once knew.
07:23So why would you want to come and disrupt your team by bringing this cat in to cause more
07:29problems?
07:30Me personally, it gives me an Antonio Brown type of vibe.
07:35And this team should run, not walk, away from this guy as quickly as they possibly can.
07:41Appreciate you, dude.
07:42I feel the same way.
07:43This would be a blight.
07:44I'm a little bit lower on this Peters regime than everybody else.
07:47I think they've kind of got away with it year one, and I haven't loved the plan since.
07:52This offseason was better, certainly adding to the defense, but still got a whole bunch
07:55of salary cap space and I think some pretty gaping holes.
08:00This would be one of those, well, you knew him at San Francisco.
08:02You knew Javon Kinlaw, too, and you paid him more than anyone else would for really
08:05pedestrian rotational production.
08:08You know, there's no carte blanche anymore.
08:10Jayden Daniels is wonderful.
08:12He blankets over a lot of things, but we're on offensive coordinator number two, defensive
08:16coordinator number two, you know, a pretty pedestrian head coach is kind of sitting here giving
08:20you cliches at the podium.
08:22There's a lot of proving that needs to be done, and this, to me, would be a major negative
08:25when there's something much easier and more effective right out there.
08:29800-636-1067.
08:32Your thoughts are next.
08:33Is Adam Peters putting his neck on the line a little bit if he goes and gets a guy that
08:41we're expecting him to have more insight on?
08:43That's the part I keep coming back to.
08:46If he wants to deal with Ayuk, it makes you think, all right, I'm betting on a guy that
08:50I have familiarity with.
08:52If it blows up and backfires, if Washington's cutting him a handful of weeks in after he
08:57no-shows or, you know, this thing goes sideways, do you just chalk it up to, ah, you kicked
09:01the tires, you didn't lose much money, who cares?
09:04Or is it bigger than that for Peters?
09:06Because of the noise surrounding this now and the videos he's posting, which Adam Schefter
09:11said yesterday, Danny, teams that were interested are no longer interested.
09:16He literally said, this is affecting how much of a market there is for this guy.
09:21And there's been no evidence that the commanders are cooling in their perceived interest.
09:26They certainly haven't gotten the word out that they don't want him.
09:29Ayuk publicly said yesterday he'll be a commander the day after he's cut.
09:33G&D on the fan.
