An “infinite bowl-making machine” can make 500 bowls an hour.

At Fortune Brainstorm Tech, Wonder CEO Marc Lore explained how the company is using automation to improve consistency across some of its most popular menu items, including salads, poke bowls, Greek bowls, and other fast-casual meals.

The automated system spins each bowl while ingredients are added, helping ensure every order is made the same way. “There are no errors," Lore said.

00:00The machine can do 500 bowls an hour, constantly iterating.
00:03And then, of course, the infinite bowl-making machine.
00:06It can make salads. It can make fast, casual Mexican.
00:08It can make Greek bowls, poke bowls, any kind of bowl.
00:11A third of our sales are in bowl concepts.
00:13The most inconsistency that we're seeing is in bowls
00:15because humans are making it,
00:16and they sort of make it with different portion size
00:19or they might miss an ingredient.
00:20The beautiful thing about this machine
00:21is the bowl actually is on a maglev,
00:24and the bowl spins, and the ingredients
00:26are put very beautifully in the bowl,
00:29so it looks and presented credible,
00:32and there's no errors.
