00:49A person who honors and exalts what Allah Almighty has glorified is someone who possesses true piety
00:57and becomes one of Allah Almighty's beloved servants.
01:02What are the things that Allah Almighty has exalted?
01:18First and foremost is the one Allah Almighty exalted most in the universe,
01:24our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
01:27He is the most honorable one and our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
01:31is the one whom Allah Almighty exalted the most.
01:37Then along with our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
01:41Allah Almighty honored his companions.
01:46Then there are blessed days.
01:51There are sacred places, there are sacred months and there are sacred specific acts of worship to be performed.
02:05All of these things are things that Allah Almighty honored and we should honor and deeply respect accordingly.
02:30During these times, there are specific acts of worship, some of which are highly recommended, others are part of the
02:40Sunnah.
02:41And there are various classifications, but there are certain acts to be performed in order to express one's respect and
02:50honor.
03:01Performing them to the best of one's ability brings tremendous benefit to a person and to every Muslim.
03:07May Allah Almighty, all the people, for all those who have upon him,
03:12may Allah Almighty be able to give its pure people,
03:13may Allah Almighty be able to give up his holy people.
03:13For another one who has given up to one of the Shammish,
03:17the person who has given up to 10 to 10 to 10 to 10,
03:19may Allah Almighty be able to give up his soul in the higher ranks of the higher ranks of the
03:27Prophet,
03:29regarding these days we now find ourselves in our beloved prophet peace and blessings be upon him
03:34for example states in a holy hadith that whoever fasts from the first to the tenth of muharram
03:40will attain the highest stations of paradise in cenneth al-furdas
03:44honoring these days is entirely for our own
03:56spiritual benefit
04:10thanks be to allah almighty in our country there are many people who honor these days and are well aware
04:16of their significance
04:24however in other places people tend to view these practices quite differently
04:29they confuse others by questioning what we're doing are you from a different sect or what exactly are you
04:42in reality practicing the sunnah following it and walking the path shown by our prophet peace and blessings be upon
05:05him are the highest forms of worship a person can offer
05:13one should try to practice them as much as possible
05:19and may allah almighty forgive whatever one is unable to do
05:23yet in certain places they twist these matters out of context
05:37if you observe these practices if they look at you strangely and wonder is this person a shia what are
05:54they and why are they doing such things

06:05however following the sunnah of our beloved prophet peace and blessings be upon him is a direct command from allah
06:11almighty

06:26is the single most important step to become to becoming a beloved servant of allah almighty

07:02If you do not follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, if you ignore his practices and act
07:08entirely on your own terms, then Allah Almighty might place you among the servants he does not love. May Allah
07:15Almighty protect us.
07:22No matter how much worship you do or what else you try to accomplish, it will be of absolutely no
07:30use.
07:53We are thankful to Allah Almighty that we have been shown the example of our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings
08:01be upon him.
08:03And he showed us the practices we should be performing during these months, during these days and especially on the
08:11day of Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram.
08:14And our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, advised us and he himself also recommended us that fasting
08:22only on the single day is not advised.
08:26If one intends to fast on the day of Ashura, he should not just fast on the 10th day, because
08:32just fasting for just one day is a tradition as it is practiced by the Jewish community.
08:41To differentiate from them, our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recommended us to fast on either the
08:499th and the 10th day or the 10th and the 11th day, or even on the 9th, the 10th and
08:57the 11th.
08:58So one should fast two or three days, but not just a single day in order to complete the fast
09:03of Ashura.
09:09Or whoever wishes is welcome to fast on all of these days.
09:20On the 10th day, on the day of Ashura, there is also specific four reka, prayer to be performed.
09:35It is best to perform this specific prayer consisting of four records before the Asher prayer, because once evening sets
09:46in, the 11th day begins and the day of Ashura will have officially passed.
10:02From the morning until before the Asher prayer, whenever you are able, you should pray these four reka, reciting Surat
10:12El-Ihlas 11 times in each reka, and then recite the specific supplications that follow.
10:27Another strong recommendation from our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for that day is to take a
10:33full body, ritual bath, gusl.
10:39It brings physical wellness, helping a person to spend the entire year in good health.
10:55This is important nowadays because may Allah Almighty protect us. There are many terrible illnesses, both known and unknown.
11:12Therefore, taking a bath on that day serves as a sincere intention to spend the whole year in good health.
11:26People should perform this full body ablution with this specific intention. By doing so to attain health and well-being,
11:35we are fulfilling the blessed words of our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
11:39After that, one should give charity, buy provisions for their home, and treat their family generously.
12:08And if possible, one should also apply coal to their eyes.
12:23It doesn't necessarily have to be black coal to be applied to one's eyes. Any suitable alternative is perfectly fine.
12:37These are the recommended practices to observe on this day.
12:53And of course, the most important act is fasting on the 9th and 10th or the 10th and 11th day,
13:00which was highly encouraged by our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
13:11Our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him said,
13:13If I live until next year, I will do this.
13:25Actually, in the very early days of Islam, the mandatory fasting period took place during the month of Muharram.
13:38The obligatory fast was not originally in Ramadan, but the obligation was later changed to the month of Ramadan.
13:58Therefore, it is entirely for our own benefit to spend this blessed day engaged in sincere worship and prayer.
14:06May Allah Almighty profoundly bless these days and nights.
14:16And inshallah may we also do everything in our power to honor these things that Allah Almighty has exalted.
14:22and may we be granted the grace to do so.
