00:00Christian Pulisic returned to full training for the first time since June 11th and looks fully
00:05recovered from an injured left calf. So what can you tell us about the possible severity of the
00:11strain for them to have to shut him down for almost two weeks? This is precautionary and I
00:17think it speaks to Pulisic's experience as a professional footballer, understanding his body,
00:23knowing when something didn't quite feel right and not trying to push it. It's really exciting
00:28to be in a World Cup and sometimes you feel pressure from yourself, pressure from your fans,
00:33from your country to keep playing. So I'm really impressed with that level of maturity. He felt
00:37something and probably talked to his trainers, the team doctor, and they said this is probably
00:43nothing major, nothing structural, but the calf is very sensitive to little explosive efforts and
00:51if you feel something there's a good chance that that could be re-injured. When you have a patient
00:55come into your office with a similar injury, what's the best treatment options and advice
01:02that you give them? On the one hand, you probably have some physical therapy, maybe some gel heel
01:08cups, change your footwear, get a little bit of support, go to physical therapy. On the other side,
01:13you're going to probably put somebody in a boot with some heel raises to relax that muscle. Most
01:19important thing is get ahead of it. If it's something severe, immobilize it, let it relax,
01:24and then get physical therapy going. It's very, very, very rare that any of these injuries require surgery.
