00:06It's been pretty much impossible to go on social media without seeing every
00:09millennial talking about reliving their childhood and teen years thanks to the
00:13seemingly endless bank of content on Disney+. Whether it's streaming animated
00:17classics or their favorite DCOMs of yesteryear, the 20 and 30-somethings say
00:21they may never leave their homes again. And I mean, I get it. Now, just one day
00:25after its launch, Disney's revealed that the streaming service has hit 10 million
00:29sign-ups, backing up its claims that Disney Plus' first-day glitches were the
00:33result of high consumer demand. Going forward, Disney said that it wouldn't
00:36provide subscriber updates about Disney Plus outside of its quarterly earnings calls.
00:43But bounty hunting is a complicated profession.
00:46The platform launched with the original Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, as well as a
00:50library of nearly 500 movies, including several Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel,
00:55and Star Wars titles, and some 7,500 TV episodes, including the entire library of
01:02The Simpsons.
01:07CEO Bob Iger expects the $7 per month offering to reach between 60 and 90 million global
01:13subscribers within its first five years. The one analyst recently forecast that it would hit
01:17more than 100 million subscribers by 2025. With 10 million in sign-ups, Disney Plus is off to a strong
01:23start,
01:23though not all of those people are likely to stay with the service when the promotions and free
01:28trials end. However, it will take a lot to surpass Netflix, which has a market-leading 158 million
01:34subscribers worldwide.
