'Hustlers' has started its box office run with a solid $2.5 million in Thursday night previews ahead of going nationwide on 3,250 screens.

00:06Hustlers is kicking off its run with some solid box office numbers. The film starring
00:10Jennifer Lopez earned $2.5 million in Thursday night previews and is eyeing a
00:15weekend bow in the mid $20 million range. Box office experts are predicting the pick
00:20could earn well over $25 million in its opening weekend. Hustlers is based on real
00:25life events from a 2015 New York Magazine article about a group of strippers who
00:29team up to con wealthy men. The band of female dancers plot to drug and steal from
00:34their Wall Street clientele in New York City during the recession. The film has been
00:37receiving rave reviews and critical praise during its world premiere at the Toronto
00:41Film Festival earlier this month, with Lopez even gaining some early Oscar buzz for her
00:46performance. Hustlers also stars Constance Wu, Kiki Palmer, Lilly Reinhardt and Cardi B
00:52among other big names and opens everywhere Friday. Also opening this weekend is
00:56Warner Bros. The Goldfinch, the adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning novel that
01:00stars Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman and Sarah Paulson. The movie is tracking for a
01:04disappointing opening in the $7 million to $12 million range.
