00:04A major mishap has taken place during Mumbai mayor's inspection tour, all caught on camera.
00:10Here's what happened.
00:11One of the municipal corporation employee fell into the open drain while the mayor was on an inspection.
00:18Look at that visual on your screen.
00:19A shocking incident, it was an inspection tour undertaken by the mayor to assess the situation regarding water logging and
00:26drains.
00:26As we can see that Mumbai already is facing its share of rainfall.
00:30Now, during this inspection, the BMC employee suddenly fell into an open drain.
00:35Thankfully, it wasn't too deep and he was immediately rescued by other officials around him.
00:41But the incident also reflecting precisely what the inspection tour was about.
00:46I want to immediately bring in Mustafa Sheikh for the latest on that.
00:49Mustafa, what was the location of this place?
00:50What exactly happened?
00:52And embarrassment is one part.
00:54But this again shows, had it not been an employee but a common citizen,
00:58they most likely would have drowned to death.
01:01Yes, of course, you're right.
01:03See, central suburbs of Mumbai, Sain and other, Hindmata is the place where this incident has taken place.
01:10Can you hear me, Pooja?
01:12Go ahead.
01:13Continue.
01:14Yes, so it's the central suburbs of Mumbai where this incident has taken place.
01:18And since morning or late night when the water logging has taken place, Mumbai mayor wanted to inspect one of
01:23these places.
01:24Now, what has happened is that there are many places where the manholes are kept open because they want to
01:30drain that water.
01:31But similarly, when there is a water logging, it's very difficult for you to understand that it's a manhole or
01:36you don't have to step in it.
01:37And that is exactly what happened or something with the BMC official who was accompanying Mumbai mayor Ritu Tawdeh at
01:44the inspection site.
01:45He fell into that ditch.
01:47And that is why the residents of Mumbai are saying that this is something which they have to go through
01:54every day.
01:55They come out on road.
01:57There is a pavement which has water.
01:58There is a passing by vehicle which splashes water on their clothes when they are going to office.
02:02There are open manholes which they have to, you know, be aware of.
02:07There is lying garbage which in turn comes on the road when it's raining.
02:10So, these are concerns of every Mumbaiker which even the Mumbai mayor's colleague had to face while the inspection was
02:17taking place.
02:18And, you know, in a way the BMC has been saying that everything is fine.
02:22There is no water logging being reported or anything like that.
02:25But Mumbai's mayor visit and what happened there has itself exposed the BMC back to it.
02:30Keep tracking all the latest on that Mustafa.
02:32And a reminder that inspections must be done.
02:36And I'm glad that the official and the employees are safe.
02:39But it's a reminder what possibly the Ahmad B has to face.
