00:00A year-long investigation has concluded former Prime Minister Boris Johnson would have been
00:04suspended as an MP for 90 days for repeated contempt of Parliament had he not resigned
00:11last week. Al Jazeera reports, the Parliamentary Committee says Boris Johnson deliberately misled
00:17Parliament over lockdown-breaking parties in Downing Street. The 2020 and 2021 parties were
00:23reported as boozy affairs that operated in contravention of social distancing measures
00:29in place at the time. Johnson has responded by calling the report a protracted political
00:35assassination. The House of Commons Privileges Committee 106-page report is claimed to be more
00:42critical than expected, given a majority of the panel's seven members come from Johnson's
00:47Conservative Party. The full House of Commons will now undergo full examination of the report
00:52and decide whether it commonsides with the panel's findings and recommended sanctions.
