00:00I'm sure sir Tim, this is not your first award, but how beautiful is this award?
00:05Isn't it? Isn't it beautiful?
00:06It's so beautiful. So each of these trophies, we can put it here, each of these trophies is an original
00:12sculpture created by artist Clara Tournai in collaboration with Art Majeur, so you can see how the light actually also
00:20reflects on it, and Clara is in the audience tonight, so please give her a big round of applause.
00:33It's light and airy and absolutely beautiful. So Tim, the World Wide Web really began with a principle that still
00:40feels radical, and that's openness. In today's AI landscape, what part of that is most at risk?
00:47Well, the whole, once you, you know, the web, everything has to be open because it was decentralized, and so
00:59everything depended on open protocols which are published, and the AI landscape, and it's, we don't have the protocols, so
01:12we need protocols,
01:13and what we need is systems which, like the web, respect other people, we need protocols so that different AI
01:22systems can talk to different data stores, and so on, and we, so we,
01:29basically, we need, basically, we need, we need, we need an AI that empowers humanity, so comparing it, we need
01:41AI which empowers every human being, just like the web originally did.
01:46So AI that empowers humans and AI with protocols. There are a lot of builders in this room, Sir Tim.
01:54What would your message be to them in terms of what not to compromise as they look to scale their
02:00businesses?
02:00I'd say, don't compromise the attention, the respect for the individual person, the user, the citizen, the individual person that,
02:20when originally, with the web, anybody could make their own website, and that was very empowering.
02:25So, whatever systems you build, make sure that you put the individual person, is the person who benefits from your
02:35systems, design all the systems that you're making, and so on, so that the individual person is top of the
02:46heap when it comes to the benefits that the systems give.
02:52Sir Tim, thank you so much, always putting the human at the front, even in AI. Thank you, and congratulations
02:58again on your award. Thank you.
