00:00South African airports are warmer than any other airport in the world.
00:04Every time you land in South African airports,
00:06you feel like you're welcomed home.
00:08It doesn't matter who you are.
00:10Have you been to airports overseas?
00:12It doesn't matter which country you go to.
00:14It seems like it's a trap.
00:15Like they're finding an excuse to kick you out.
00:18Where's your papers?
00:19Where's this?
00:20Where's that?
00:21Stand over there.
00:22Move.
00:22You're not supposed to be here.
00:24Get out of here.
00:25Nah, not in South Africa.
00:28Here.
00:29I feel like everybody can get in.
00:34I feel like we're on everyone's side.
00:37Fake passport.
00:38No problem.
00:39We can talk about it.
00:43Everybody's welcome.
00:44That's the country I want to be from.
00:48You land at Aura Tambo.
00:49You get there to passport control.
00:51You know?
00:52They've got that little camera.
00:53That's my favorite thing.
00:54Have you seen that camera?
00:55That doesn't see your face.
00:56It just sees like your colors.
00:57Your temperatures.
00:58I don't even know what that's really for.
01:00Is it Ebola?
01:01Is it COVID?
01:02No, because I've noticed they never pull anybody aside.
01:06Like, they just show you your colors.
01:07And they're very adamant.
01:08They'll be like, look at the camera.
01:10Excuse me.
01:11Look at the camera.
01:11Then you look there.
01:12And then you see like orange, red, all these different colors.
01:16And then they'll be like, look at the camera.
01:17Then you look.
01:18And they're like, you purple.
01:20Okay, you can go.
01:23You're like, I can?
01:25You're like, but I'm purple.
01:26What does that mean?
01:34I love getting to passport control because that's when I have my first real interaction with a South African.
01:39And the people at passport control all have personality.
01:42This trip was even better.
01:44This trip was even better.
01:45I'm waiting in line.
01:46Finally, they call me.
01:47Next.
01:47And I go up there.
01:49I get there.
01:50I give them my passport.
01:50I'm like, do me long.
01:51She's like, okay.
01:52I was like, I don't think.
01:53She's like, greeting, greeting.
01:55Let me.
01:55Woo.
01:58Trevor Noah.
02:01Ah, it's my lucky day.
02:05Trevor Noah.
02:07Ha, ha.
02:08I can't believe it.
02:09Go on, Trevor.
02:10Is that you?
02:11Is that you?
02:12Oh, Trevor.
02:14Oh, go on.
02:15Cynthia, woman, a rookie man.
02:17Get Trevor.
02:19Eh, eh.
02:19Trevor Noah.
02:21Ah, ah.
02:21It's not Trevor Noah.
02:22Trevor Noah.
02:24You comedian.
02:25Trevor Noah.
02:25No, no, no.
02:26Go, go, go, go.
02:27Go, day show.
02:28Yeah, get Trevor.
02:29Ah, ah, well, now, she doesn't have this TV, that one.
02:32Yeah, Trevor, you're back.
02:34Hey, look at you.
02:35You, Trevor, you're traveling, eh?
02:37Look how many stamps here.
02:39Oh, Trevor.
02:40Oh, Trevor, this is too much.
02:41You're not tired.
02:43Aye, Trevor.
02:43Wonderful.
02:44Look at all these countries.
02:45Look here.
02:46Look, which country is this one?
02:47Trevor.
02:48What?
02:48What is this one?
02:50Moldova.
02:51You, oh, whatever.
02:53Oh, but you're back now, ne?
02:54How long are you going to be here?
02:56I was like, oh, it's actually going to be a while now.
02:58I have more time.
02:59She's like, oh, really?
03:00Oh, yeah, because they fired you by the Daily Show, ne?
03:05It's like, what?
03:06No, no.
03:08No, I left.
03:10You left where?
03:12I left the show.
03:13Ah, they didn't fire you.
03:14I was like, no.
03:15Why did you leave?
03:16Were they paying you?
03:18Yes.
03:18And you left?
03:22You're lying, Trevor.
03:23There's no South African that can leave a job when they are getting paid.
03:26That can never happen.
03:28You are just leaving a job, but they are paying you.
03:30Which South African can do?
03:31Even me, I'm leaving my job now.
03:33Ah, ah, ah, ah.
03:34Wow, Trevor.
03:36Why did you leave?
03:38Tell the truth, Trevor.
03:39What happened?
03:40What happened, Trevor?
03:42Did you steal something?
03:45Yeah?
03:46You can tell me, Trevor.
03:47What happened?
03:47Did you steal something?
03:49I won't judge you, Pella, we are South Africans.
03:52Yeah, Linda, I know sometimes how it can be.
03:54You don't even plan.
03:55You're just there.
03:56Then something can pop up.
03:58You're like, yay.
04:00Now it's like sticky fingers.
04:01It's just, you just want to.
04:03Pella, not Trevor.
04:04It happened to me, Linda, Trevor, eh?
04:06Here at work, there was a stapler.
04:08I don't even know where it was from.
04:11This stapler was just there, Trevor.
04:13Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, Trevor.
04:15That stapler.
04:16Then I took it home, Trevor.
04:17You know at home, we don't even staple, eh?
04:19We don't even staple, but now every day we are there.
04:23What are you doing?
04:26What did you take?
04:26I'm like, I didn't take nothing.
04:27You're lying, Trevor.
04:28You're lying.
04:29I know why you are back.
04:30You're here for CCMA.
04:32You must do it.
04:33Yeah.
04:34They're going to pay you, Trevor.
04:35Welcome back.
04:46I could feel it.
04:48I'm home.
04:50Immediately, I was like, this is it, man.
04:52There's no other country like this.
04:55Oh, and what a journey it's been, people.
04:57What a journey it has been.
04:59You know, traveling around the country, coming out, doing these shows for you.
05:03You know, we went to Cape Town, went to Durban.
05:05Here we are in Pretoria.
05:06Everyone coming out together.
05:08Yo.
05:09It's been so much fun.
05:12So much.
05:13Every place I go to, though, it's interesting.
05:15You get a taste of how the people are, you know?
05:19Like, Durban was interesting.
05:21Because I don't know what it is about people in Durban, but it feels like they want to fight
05:24with you for no reason all the time.
05:27No, even when they're, like, being nice to you, it feels like they want to fight, you know?
05:30And I've noticed this.
05:31You know what I've noticed is when you're taking pictures with South Africans.
05:33That's when you notice it, you know?
05:35Because South Africans are very different to everyone in the world, especially with how
05:40they deal with fame.
05:41I've noticed this.
05:42You know, like, overseas, fame is like a religion, right?
05:46Especially, like, in places like America.
05:48You know, when you're famous there, people worship you.
05:51You know, you see people spotting a celebrity in the streets, like, oh, my God.
05:55Oh, my God.
05:56It's Beyonce.
05:58Then they faint.
06:03No, South Africans aren't like that.
06:04South Africans, you're not famous.
06:05I feel like in South Africa, people just know you.
06:08You know?
06:09Yeah, like here, when I walk in the street, no one's like, I hear people are just like,
06:13Trevor!
06:15Trevor!
06:17Yeah.
06:25Everywhere, it's different.
06:27Every single place, it's different.
06:32Cape Town was one of my favorites because we were there for a while, you know?
06:36And I haven't done shows in Cape Town for a very long time, you know?
06:40I haven't done shows in Cape Town for a long time, and so I was there.
06:42In fact, the last time, the last time I did shows in Cape Town was when the DA was still
06:50being led by Lindywe Mazibuko.
06:53And it was Musi Maimani.
06:55Yeah, that's how far it was.
06:56And then now when I got there, it was like, wow, I was like, damn, it's been that long.
06:59Because now it was like some guy, or something, and Helen Ziller.
07:04I was like, damn.
07:05I was like, this is pretty impressive, DA.
07:07Yeah, you proved everybody wrong.
07:09You showed that once you go black, you can go back.
07:12Wow.
07:14Look at you.
