00:00We're here at Perth Primary School where 140 students from across five different schools
00:04are coming up with ideas for the Northern Midlands Region.
00:09Hi, I'm Cooper and I'm from Perth Primary School.
00:14Hi, I'm Parker from Brackenham Primary School.
00:17Hi, I'm Charlie from Canberra Town District High School.
00:20Hi, I'm Ava and I'm from Longford Primary School.
00:24Hi, I'm Ollie from Cressey District High School.
00:27I think that our favourite part is just that experience when we're trying to get a job,
00:31making sure we've got all the things that we need,
00:34and it's a great opportunity to work in groups as well and get that teamwork going.
00:39So our solution was that our issue is that sometimes families, especially in more rural areas,
00:46can't get away if there is a flood fast enough.
00:49So we've developed a support system to help them get out of there using boats and drones and things.
00:54So our problem is that the power normally goes out in Brackenham, especially in winter,
01:01and there's no heating or power to charge your phones or internet or anything.
01:06So our solution is that we're going to have a windmill farm
01:12to give everyone heating and power for their phones, especially to contact people and everything like that.
01:19Oh, I just really like being around other schools and it's just, it's a good thing because I get to
01:27learn with other kids from other places around Tassie and just learn about things
01:36that I wouldn't usually learn about at school. It's quite, it's a good lesson to learn.
01:42Our issue is that a lot of the time when it's a, say your house is on fire and you've
01:48got a really
01:48precious dog, even if you get that out of the house, quite often there, you won't be able to
01:56like take it with you to a new place because there might be rules about not having them.
02:02So our solution was that if you call some people and they will send someone
02:08to come and collect your dog and look after it for however long, whether that's two days or two weeks
02:15or whatever. And yeah, that just, yeah, that's ours. Hopefully some of them like might actually help
02:23and it would be cool if one of them ended up being like a real thing and it would just,
02:33and the group would be really happy about that too. Absolutely, because you guys are putting a lot
02:37of hard work into coming up with these ideas, aren't you? Yeah, we've been working all week.
02:41Fantastic. And tell me just a little bit about the issue and the solution you're working on.
02:45Our group is doing a thing to, for class, schools in the Northern Midlands for excursions to Epping
02:56Forest to learn about like the wildlife native animals and like how to care for them and like
03:04they'll be like, they could like learn about like the stories and. Our issue is that a lot of price
03:11lifting is coming up like fuel and food for families and all of that. So, um, we came up with
03:19an idea that
03:20we're going to like buy our own like little truck van sort of thing and like help farmers. So the
03:28farmers
03:28are going to grow food and like we're going to grow food and help the farmers with their food and,
03:34and then we're going to, with the truck, we're going to sell the, our food that we've helped with.
03:40And yeah. And what's your favourite thing about today? Um, probably, um, making more friends around
03:47and the whole, all of the schools that have came here.
