00:00Stepping into the octagon, a UFC match at the White House could be the most watched event in
00:05the sports history. We'll speak to a UFC legend about the fight. We're following these major
00:10developing stories and many more all coming in right here to CNN News Central. And new inflation
00:15data out today show wholesale prices jumping by their fastest rate in more than three years. That's
00:20two back-to-back days of reports that show inflation surging to numbers that we haven't
00:25seen since 2023. Families and businesses across the country are feeling the pain and economists
00:30say the higher prices are being whipped up by the high energy prices linked to President Trump's
00:35war with Iran. Let's go a little bit about the president saying, I don't know that America has
00:41this stomach. I think they'd like to see us come home. I think part of the reason that America
00:46doesn't have the stomach for something like carrying out this threat on Karg Island is because what that
00:51would entail. Just explain to us what that would entail. That Trump is facing domestically. It's
00:56very clear. Iran is savvy to the fact that Trump wants progress or to project the idea of progress
01:04because Americans would like for this to wrap up, right? They're savvy that the president, he actually
01:10wants to minimize. Or interrupted President Trump now saying he's canceling strikes that he had planned
01:16for tonight against Iran while suggesting that there may be an agreement in place with Tehran
01:23and raising alarm bells as the war drives energy prices higher. Oil executives are warning American
01:29consumers could soon be facing even higher prices at the pump. One source telling CNN July is likely the
01:36pain point. And yes, call it a comeback. The biggest in NBA finals history. The New York Knicks electrified
01:43Madison Square Garden last night with a historic come from behind win against the San Antonio Spurs.
01:49The Knicks erasing a 29 point deficit and winning game four in the final seconds to take a three
01:55to one series lead. Here's the last shot when they brought crazed fans to their feet.
02:03They refused to immediately leave the garden. One more win and New York will clinch its first NBA title
02:10since 1973. Boris is not going to be happy at all about that. I was all, listen, I feel you,
02:21buddy, because I was also rooting for the Spurs and I went to bed thinking, oh, they got it.
02:26They got it. It's not. Look at this. Look at this spread. It's fine. Spurs in seven, maybe,
02:31maybe nine. I don't know. It may not work out. Maybe. We are also counting down to kick.
02:35Shimon, thank you so much for that. A new hour of CNN News Central starts after a quick break.
02:42Soccer fans, we're following these major developing stories and many more all coming in right here
02:46to CNN News Central. We do begin with our breaking news. President Trump just a short time ago
02:50announcing his pick to be his next director of national intelligence. The president has named
02:55Jay Clayton, who right now is the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
03:00In this post, in his post, I should say, Trump writing,
03:04few people anywhere in the legal community are respected at the level of Jay.
03:09And we have CNN's Kara Scannell.
03:11From everyone around him, because some of the issues that have arisen is that one of the most
03:17prominent prosecutors in that office, Maureen Comey, was fired by Washington. And before he went into
03:23the administration with Trump, he's been a banking lawyer for years, advisor to bank CEOs,
03:28to corporate boards. He certainly is not someone who is going to be easily swayed. He can hold his
03:35own. And he does have a relationship with Trump. They have golfed together numerous times. So that is
03:42something that he has that could perhaps aid him in Washington in this kind of high stakes arena that
03:49he will enter into. He had never been a prosecutor before he took over leading the U.S. attorney's
03:55office.
03:55Thank you, Boris.
03:58Today, the White House gave a preview of the sports spectacular coming to the South Lawn in three days.
04:04UFC Freedom 250 will feature seven MMA fights as part of America's 250th birthday celebrations.
04:11Sunday is also the president's 80th birthday. Earlier, Boris spoke with UFC legend,
04:16George's St. Pierre, who will be attending the Sunday night fight. And he marveled at how far
04:21mixed martial arts has come. Construction for the UFC event began in late May, and the UFC is
04:29spending $60 million to bring Sunday's matches to the White House complex. Today, CNN's Betsy Klein was
04:35able to get up close to the newly built fighting arena that's known as the Octagon. She's with us now
04:40from the White House. All right, Betsy, tell us what you saw there.
04:44Well, yeah, Brianna, earlier...
04:46Port-a-potty per 300 guests. That's an interesting ratio. And I would think that there would be more
04:51port-a-potties, quite frankly. But that's for perhaps another investigative report. Betsy Klein,
04:57big MMA fan, live for us from the White House. Thank you so much.
05:01Ahead, President Trump calling off strikes on Iran tonight, saying discussions and final points on a
05:06deal have been approved by Iranian leaders. We're going to discuss with Democratic Congressman Seth
05:13Moulton after a quick break. The biggest soccer tournament in the world is now underway. Just
05:19moments ago, Mexico and South Africa officially kicked off the opening match of the 2020...
