00:00I think 99% of people are going to break up with someone and then get back in the mix
00:05and make it way worse than it is, and a true, mature Jedi would just let it be, let it
00:11breathe.
00:12If it's supposed to come back around, it will.
00:22It was one of the songs you make after you spend a whole day trying something that kind
00:27of works and kind of doesn't work.
00:28It's the end of the night and you just start humming something and everyone's like,
00:32we should have been doing this all day, this is amazing.
00:59That first record deal I kind of actually spent with my girlfriend and then by the time
01:04I was re-signing the second one it was like I was looking at so much more ahead of me.
01:08It was like a turning of the page where I wasn't going to be able to be the best partner.
01:14And then you break up and you have your record deal and you're kind of sitting there like
01:18feeling like a little bit of an idiot.
01:20These empty words of encouragement are really nice in this studio where I have no girlfriend.
01:42It's the tales as old as time.
01:43You know in your heart you're not supposed to be together, but if you get tapped on the
01:47shoulder and your person's right over there, that's definitely a slippery slope, but an easy
01:54one to slip into.
02:07If it's not supposed to work out, all you can do is really play house and it might feel so
02:13good in the moment, but then you kind of snap out of it and you're like, oh well you got
02:19to go here
02:19and I got to go here now and we just like reignited something that's going to make us feel really
02:25confused and we can't do anything about it and it's like damn, maybe we should have just kept it PG.
02:58I don't know, the grass is always greener on the other side and that's not the truest thing of all
03:02time. I don't know what is. You're like, let's get single, let's get crazy and then you're just on
03:06dates and you're like realizing there's no one out there for you. I'm kind of just laughing like,
03:11yeah, that's great. I'm getting hammered in my hotel room and I'm going on dates with people that
03:16aren't laughing at my jokes and if you're not going to laugh at my jokes, I'm like 40% sure
03:21they're
03:21funny. I'm immediately going to start joking like when I meet someone and within 10 seconds,
03:26we're going to find out if like you can hang or you can't hang. I say something super sarcastic
03:30and they're like, oh yeah, really? Wow. It's so cool. I'm like, oh, I got to fly out of here
03:34so fast.
03:46I don't need you any further. That's a lie. Why did I go when I had you right here? Oh,
03:59you should know. Bridges are awesome. It's like, you just have like a, it feels like a separate song
04:05for like 20 seconds. I find myself yearning for those 20 seconds and I'm replaying the song
04:12just so juiced on the fact that that part of the song that's three quarters of the way through
04:17is going to come. I've always wanted to say, let me take you to the bridge. And it's funny,
04:22we had rolled through the whole album and made pretty much the whole thing and I never said it
04:27and I never really thought of it. And then at the last second, I was listening to that song and
04:31we
04:31were going through it in the studio and we just realized that that's the let me take you to the
04:35bridge moment. Full body chills. I mean, I'm going to start getting emotional right now,
04:40so just cut the cameras. That's the beauty of it. You just are having a blast and exciting yourself
04:48and pushing yourself. That's what making music is. For me, it's just like making my favorite song
04:53and then making my new favorite song the next day. And then everyone can decide what they want to do
04:58with.
04:58You
04:58you
