Drivers are being warned of disruption as the next stage of flyover demolition begins. Gateshead Council says diversions and temporary transport measures will help keep the town centre accessible.

00:00Drivers in Gateshead are being warned to expect significant disruption as demolition work continues on the closed A167 flyover.
00:09The next phase will see five bridges round about shut from the 21st of June until the 16th of July,
00:16with diversions introduced across the area.
00:19Gateshead Council says it is working to reduce delays and is encouraging more people to use buses and metro services
00:25where possible.
00:26A council funded shuttle bus will serve Sunderland Road residents who are affected by the changes.
00:33Officials say that the town centre remains open for business and further traffic measures are planned in the coming weeks
00:39as the project moves into its stage.
