00:19But a London Assembly Committee has called for the plans to be halted until independent assessments are carried out.
00:25The committee warns that lowering the approach could see aircraft flying about 90 feet lower over parts of East London.
00:33It also raises concerns about the possibility of increased overall flight numbers.
00:38The Civil Aviation Authority is due to make a decision later this year.
