00:00You know, one of my children, when my husband told them about what happened to Renee Goode,
00:06the first thing he said was, I don't want mommy to get shot when she's out protecting people.
00:11That's what our kids are living through.
00:14You know, whether they are targeted themselves or watching their neighborhood and community be targeted,
00:20this is a trauma that's happening to all of our children.
00:23Right now, I would say that people are doing a lot to protect one another.
00:29We have been, for the past several weeks, schools across the district have been organizing rides for students,
00:35have been collecting food, taking food to families that have lost a breadwinner or are scared to leave the house,
00:42patrolling bus stops and school dismissals because we have seen abductions happen at bus stops.
00:48There are kids who have lost a family member who are completely traumatized, who are terrified every day,
00:53who can't leave their houses other than to go to school.
00:56And now our kids are, we have to, as parents, we keep having to explain these tragedies to them.
