When Conservation Officers find bears in need of help, Angelika and team at Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter are always there with open arms. This little bear needs all the help she can get.

The people in this video are professional veterinarians with medical training. Do not try this at home. Doing so may result in physical harm.

Watch WILD BEAR RESCUE Wednesdays at 9|8c on EarthX.

About WILD BEAR RESCUE:
The bear pens at Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter are crawling with a record 40 orphaned black bear cubs—climbing, wrestling, and rolling fuzz-balls—each distinct in looks and personality. Rescuing and caring for these cubs are the passion of Angelika Langen, the shelter’s resident "Mamma Bear." While Angelika handles the black bear cubs, her husband Peter runs the world’s only grizzly rehab program. With the help of their son Michael, daughter Tanja, son-in-law Shawn, and a team of driven volunteers, they save sick and injured orphan cubs and build them up for hibernation.

00:02Right as we were coming in so did a conservation officer with another bear cub and that bear cub
00:08needed all the help she could get. Yeah it looks like he got hit by a vehicle. She couldn't stay
00:16and she had absolutely no fight in her. Bear cubs shouldn't be able to be picked up and the CO
00:20picked her right up. Okay we'll have a cage ready for her. It's challenging right when these animals
00:27come in especially when they're in such bad shape. It's all hands on deck. I just put her up here
00:32and just try to make her as comfortable on there as possible. Like the lower jaw is way further out
00:46than the upper jaw. She's jutted. So do we have a fractured jaw? Is there any movement? Here. Right there?
00:53Right there. Can you find my phone? I need a vet. She's not fighting us at all and that's not
01:04a good
01:04sign. But it could be just dehydration. It's really hard to tell. So what is that stuff exactly?
01:14Selene it's rehydrating her. And I'm getting some reaction so she feels. So we should hug. Bears that come
01:27in in such rough shape it's always kind of a 50-50 chance right? Okay put her in. You don't
01:36want to
01:36stress her out too much. This is the emergency line of Babine Animal Hospital. Mike Angelica here. I just
01:51got a bear cup in that the conservation officers brought in. If you could call me back as soon
01:55as possible. Thank you. I find when I'm here I'm quite pessimistic about animals. You obviously have
02:02the best hope for them but if you fall in love with every animal and are convinced that every animal
02:05will make it you'll have a really hard time. So I was quite certain she wasn't actually going to make
02:12you through the night.
