00:08have depended on the sea and surrounding mangrove forests for survival.
00:12Fishing and traditional wood carving are not only their main sources of income,
00:16but also an important part of their cultural heritage.
00:19Lanuza, who is the Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Kurao Orang Asli Village Development and Security Committee Chairman,
00:25said fishermen from Pulau Keri head out to the sea in small wooden boats to catch prawns and fish.
00:30He said they are already living from hand to mouth,
00:33but the massive port projects planned in their vicinity are making it more difficult for them to make a living.
00:39He said the community stands to lose their source of income
00:42if the Selangor government does not carefully plan on how to maintain the environment
00:47and if the situation worsens, they may be forced to leave Pulau Keri
00:51and their identity will be erased forever.
00:55There are two projects that the community is particularly concerned about,
00:58namely the West Port 2 Expansion Project, which began in 2024,
01:03and the proposed Third Port Project, which was approved by the Cabinet in March.
