00:16flood control corruption. Senator Mig Zubiri says being betrayed twice by members of the majority
00:21factored in his decision to join the minority. Naga City Mayor Lenny Robredo announces her city

00:33Magazine's 30 under 30 Asia list.
00:43The Department of Justice confirms it received the obstruction of justice complaint against
00:48Senator Robin Padilla from the Philippine National Police. The PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection
00:53Group says De La Rosa did not simply hitch a ride on Padilla's vehicle. Rather,
00:57it was a coordinated and pre-planned operation to avoid detection. The CIDG also said there was
01:03another vehicle tailing the car of Padilla which served as a security escort and backup car. Padilla
01:09was named a person of interest by the National Bureau of Investigation on May 15 after it was
01:14revealed that De La Rosa left the compound with him at around 2.30 a.m. on May 14. But
01:19Padilla
01:20said on May 22, his colleague merely asked for a ride saying that De La Rosa disembarked in Makati.
01:27Senator Jinggoy Estrada faces a new set of cases of plunder and graft over his alleged
01:33involvement in the flood control corruption scandal. Former Department of Public Works and Highway
01:37Secretary Manuel Bonoan was also charged before the anti-graft court Sandigan Bayan on Thursday,
01:42May 28. Our evaluation shows that substantial public funds were deliberately funneled into
01:49designated infrastructure projects in exchange for predetermined commission fees or kickbacks.
01:56The filing against Estrada and Bonoan came weeks after the Ombudsman confirmed that it received the
02:01Department of Justice's resolution to file cases against the two. Plunder is non-bailable so the two
02:07might be detained if the court issues a warrant of arrest against them. Meantime, Estrada says he will
02:12exhaust all legal remedies. This is the third time he has been slapped with a plunder charge. He was
02:17charged with plunder and graft over the pork barrel scam. Estrada was acquitted of plunder in 2024 but his
02:23graft cases are still pending as of this reporting. Senator Mig Zubiri says being betrayed twice by members of the
02:31majority factored in his decision to join the minority. Zubiri says the betrayal came from Senators Bato de la Rosa,
02:37Bongo, Aimee Marcos, and Robin Padilla.
02:52The senator claims he was first betrayed in May 2024 when he was ousted as Senate President and replaced by
02:58Senator Cheez Escudero. The second was at the start of the 20th Congress when the same group allegedly
03:03promised to bring him back to the post only to go back on this promise days later.
03:14Zubiri says the betrayal was something he could never forget and forgive. Despite this, he still calls de la Rosa,
03:20who is now in hiding from his arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court, his friend and
03:24compadre. Zubiri was among those who walked out of the Senate plenary Tuesday, May 26 after heated debates
03:30on a motion to allow Senators to vote in absentia. This is the travesty of our rules.
03:37Naga City Mayor Lenny Robredo announces President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had declared Naga a highly urbanized
03:43city. Naga is the 34th city in the Philippines to be recognized with an HUC status signaling its sustained
03:50economic growth and institutional development. The proclamation comes after the Naga City Council
03:55passed a resolution requesting the office of the President to declare the city an HUC. An HUC status is
04:02the highest city classification in the Philippines, requiring a minimum annual income of 50 million
04:06pesos and a population of at least 200,000. Naga is the first city in the Bicol region to achieve
04:12this status.
04:13During the ceremony, Naga City Vice Mayor Gabriel Bordado Jr. honored the legacy of participatory and good
04:19governance left by the late Jesse Robredo. Jesse served as Naga's mayor for over 19 years.
