00:00right now tell me you didn't hear it a little bit it's time for some baseball nuggets
00:09i wanted to point out that we are all lamenting or we have lamented about the lack of money
00:18that the texas rangers seem to be willing to spend not seem to be that are actively
00:24unwilling to spend lowest uh spending team in the league i presume they are not okay but they are
00:32spending if you just go by like a media market and stuff they're set they're spending i think about
00:3785 million dollars below what their actual slot should be but believe it or not yeah exactly
00:44believe it or not you can win without spending all of the money the brewers tell gray davis that oh
00:52okay ray davis keep your radio on but just turn it down for about 30 seconds tell them it's opposite
01:00day everything kevin says here okay good yeah it's opposite day sure that the brewers lead the nl
01:10central the rays lead the al east the guardians lead the al central and the a's who play in sacramento
01:19lead the al west perspo track they rank 20th 21st 28th and 29th do you in spending legitimately see
01:30them as a world series winner the a's any of those teams yes i don't i think the rays and
01:38brewers are
01:39real teams i think the brewers will play in the playoffs and i think the rays will play in the
01:44playoffs and i think they will succumb to the ultimate that other team had more money and spent
01:49more money okay and that's just my yankees dodgers were headed towards again or one of those teams that
01:56spends more that's also in that upper echelon that's just the history tells me that that's what's going to
02:02happen and you could be right but still at this point even to be in the playoffs it is a
02:08significant
02:08thing and that's i'm using that word i think that's frustrating for so many rangers fans is
02:15because well first of all it feels like you're not spending the appropriate amount of money but
02:19you're spending more money than all of those teams and i guess you're kind of close to the a's you're
02:24like game and a half back but for the other ones you're not particularly close to the production
02:29that they have gotten this year and then when you hear hey once we get cory and wyatt back we're
02:34going to roll you're like all right from the 817 this is exactly where i was heading with this
02:39every single one of those teams you just mentioned has young players that are contributing at a high
02:44level and especially on the offensive side they say and they don't like this team just doesn't seem to
02:51have a the developmental group sure which we've complained about many many many times and that was
02:59kevin where's wyatt langford you know in the in the first year on the way to the world series with
03:04chris young i said look man he's fixed this this this and this the next thing for him is to
03:10fix
03:11the farm system never did and then he won the world series and was like why should i do that
03:16yeah i was like no no that wasn't the plan but that like that is a that is an essential
03:20part of
03:21being a young cheap baseball team is having talent that is still under like under that but it's also
03:27performing up to its level that you expect and that was going to be wyatt langford and i mean he
03:34could still have a really good season once he comes back hopefully in another week or so and he can
03:40still
03:40have a really great season but like that was what was supposed to be leading us this year and look
03:45we
03:45could talk about war all of you all you like but i felt like wyatt langford did not advance as
03:51much
03:52offensively last year as most any of us would have hoped let's go to the new york yankees real
04:00quick before we do that because you say most any most of us hoped and i'm right there with you
04:05was putting the mite trout tag on him too much like that kind of expectation yeah i i always think
04:15it's
04:16unfair like it's great for projection but yeah it's always unfair when you know you don't hear
04:22people go he's the next alex caruso yeah because like that's probably and alex caruso is a heck of
04:28a player good ball it's just that's a couple championships that's not as much fun yeah as
04:32saying and so i just wonder where the real projection for why it is but kevin i guess you know
04:38it wasn't just
04:39us it was the the people we were talking to even in the organizations that were just like you know
04:46you can tell by the way he hits the ball i mean boach would tell us the same thing so
04:51right that
04:51projection the reality of where he is that's where i just wanted to kind of place that is it was
04:56a
04:56little unfair any time to say next mike trout or next erin judge but when you're hearing this kind
05:02of hype you kind of have to figure that out i don't know i don't know what a good projection
05:05is
05:06okay well we will come up with a better project all right then mike trout i think that uh i
05:12think
05:12that is fair by the way somebody asked how did cody freeman do last night went oh for three
05:17but he had a walk and scored a run okay so in case you wanted to know about that all
05:23right let's go to
05:24the yankees this is amazing that this has never happened but it's a staggering amount of offense last
05:30night yankees defeated kansas city 15 to 1 they had 24 hits all nine starters for the yankees recorded
05:40at least two hits that is the first time that has ever happened in yankees history no way that's what
05:47i thought too but even during yogi bear's time nope wow so every single starter had at least two hits
05:56and get ready because we got more history coming your way cam schlittler pitched tremendously once
06:04again in the 15 to 1 route he gave up one run no walks striking out six he currently has
06:13an era of
06:141.5 that is the second lowest of any yankees pitcher through their first 12 starts since
06:251913 the only one lower was ray caldwell oh yeah 1914 his brother has a center named after him in
06:33garland that is i do not actually know at all if he's related to curtis caldwell i would assume not
06:40but that assumption is based on nothing exactly so uh dude cam the man whose last name i will not
06:50say
06:50and the man is pretty good he uh like you've been all about this kid he's awesome and he's turning
06:55out to be everything that we expected he would be this is this is nice for them great they get
07:00to
07:01have that now not all wins have nothing but positive with them okay let's talk about abner uribe
07:08so abner uribe has been called out by the brewers manager for he and he was a little too excited
07:18it was a six to nothing game and after getting a strikeout
07:26he did the let's just say dx crotch chop three straight times and oh i think you're only allowed
07:35two pumps right exactly it's kind of kind of similar to that everybody knows and pat murphy
07:40said i don't know what got over him i mean he's an emotional guy but that kind of thing that's
07:46just
07:46not how we do things i was embarrassed by it why are we doing it it's a six to nothing
07:51game
07:51what are we doing here so so his manager is like hey it's not two to one it's six to
07:59nothing calm down
08:00i don't i don't know what do you think he would say in response uh i don't know if i
08:05love that
08:06because in a six to nothing game you still need to be competitive right and you got to find ways
08:12to
08:12make it competition maybe in his mind he was like he was like oh that dude called me out or
08:17he winked
08:18at me at the plate you know whatever it is and i got to come up with some way to
08:22to you know get
08:24competitive again and then once that happened the competition juices just started flowing from the
08:29thing that he did and so i i think you just support your guys for being competitive instead of being
08:35like tame it down a little bit so uribe apologized but then also threw some of the blame on the
08:43cardinals because he goes i right go ahead explain why he said i don't think it's unprofessional for
08:52their manager to be making signs towards our dugout saying that this is going to be hitting guys
08:56there was an event that occurred during practice today too and i don't think that was right so i always
09:02have my teammates back see there you go always always that's the best way to do it and then in
09:09case you care the rays who you don't think are a big spending team hey guess what you said they
09:13weren't they signed craig kimbrell who otherwise might not have a job to shore up their bullpen so
09:21you're right they don't spend a lot of money but they're still very very good this season
09:25we're the knc masterpiece right here on 105.3 the fan
