La directora de los servicios de inteligencia de Estados Unidos, Tulsi Gabbard, ha presentado su dimisión este viernes, según ha adelantado Fox News. Gabbard, que antes de ocupar este cargo había sido congresista demócrata, ha argumentado razones de salud de su marido, enfermo de cáncer, para renunciar al puesto a partir del 30 de junio. Pero con su marcha, Gabbard concluye un año tumultuoso al frente de los servicios de inteligencia estadounidenses, durante el cual se conjeturó en varias ocasiones sobre su salida, bien en forma de dimisión o de cese. Nunca llegó a formar parte del pequeño círculo de personas de absoluta confianza del presidente.
