00:01We are striving to make people attractive and photogenic,
00:04but there's also a story to tell, and a lot of this story is gritty.
00:08It's kind of action-packed.
00:10Sometimes it's a little brutal,
00:12and you don't want to shy away from those elements.
00:19I think visually one of my favorite parts about the show
00:21is that it is a very natural, lived-in look
00:24that we are creating on the cast.
00:26If you get it too perfect,
00:29it doesn't look right.
00:30Sometimes you have to mess it up a little bit.
00:32When I first got here to see what direction they wanted to go in
00:35and read the scripts, and after that,
00:37you kind of make your own decision on where you think the character should go.
00:44Always keeping in mind the balance of a very lived-in look,
00:47but also still kept TV-wise,
00:49and there's been a really good balance of keeping them natural,
00:52but making sure they still look polished.
00:54We also have really thoughtful actors
00:56who have done their own homework about what they think their character should look like.
01:00They do a backstory on themselves.
01:02They develop this character, and they're extremely accessible.
01:06And there may be a misconception too amongst viewers is,
01:10you don't get a person ready in the morning, and that's the way they look for the rest of the
01:14day.
01:14There are sometimes changeovers with every scene, and they can be pretty dramatic.
01:19We recently had some pretty dramatic changes,
01:22where they go from bloody to clean to half-bloody,
01:25and clean again, and you never know.
01:27Everybody has a schedule.
01:29There's this whole crew of people that have a job to do.
01:31The definition of the job is problem-solving.
01:34That's unlike any TV show I've ever worked on in terms of scope.
01:39You're moving from point A to point B to point C to point D
01:42in such a fashion that you never get complacent.
01:46You don't get bored.
01:47It's always an exciting new challenge.
