Getting hit by a pitch is nothing new for Willson Contreras, but his latest reaction might be one of the most memorable of his career. The Boston Red Sox first baseman, long known as one of baseball’s most frequent hit-by-pitch victims, added another moment to his unusual résumé during a 3-1 win over the Houston Astros at Fenway Park. Facing Astros starter Mike Burrows in the first inning, Contreras was struck by a 95 mph sinker. Rather than confronting Burrows, Contreras jogged toward the ball as it rolled in front of home plate, casually picked it up, and tossed it back to the pitcher before continuing his trot to first base.
