02:17Automobiles were the most politically sensitive issue in the negotiations.
02:22India currently imposes import duties of up to 110%
02:27on foreign-made cars, especially in the premium segment.
02:31Under the new
02:32agreement, tariffs on European manufactured vehicles are expected to fall to
02:37around 40%.
02:39That shift dramatically changes the economics
02:42of selling European cars in India.
02:45For Indian consumers, especially
02:47in the premium and electric vehicle space, the impact could be significant.
02:52European brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volvo
02:57and Volkswagen will be able to price vehicles more competitively.
03:01Luxury
03:02electric vehicles such as the BMW iX, Mercedes EQS
03:07and Audi Q8 e-tron stand to benefit the most.
03:11At the same time,
03:12India has protected domestic mass-market manufacturers, keeping
03:17budget EVs largely insulated from direct competition.
03:21Europe's
03:22price gains go beyond cars.
03:24The EU
03:25will receive improved access to one
03:27of the world's fastest-growing consumer markets, while India lowers tariffs on
03:32select European goods, including wines and industrial products.
03:37In return, Indian exports, textiles, garments, jewelry, chemicals,
03:42pharmaceuticals, and electronics will enjoy wider and more predictable access.
03:47In addition to European markets, sensitive farm and dairy sectors have been excluded.
03:52to protect Indian farmers.
03:54Today,

04:26in high-tech and capital-intensive sectors machinery aircraft

04:36form the backbone of EU exports to India these inputs are critical
04:41for India's infrastructure build-out electronics ecosystem health care system
04:46and clean energy ambitions areas where domestic production alone cannot
04:51yet meet demand
04:56India has also pushed back again
05:01against EU carbon-related trade barriers particularly levees affecting steel
05:06aluminum and cement the FTA is expected to help offset some
05:11of these pressures by offering alternative competitiveness pathways as Europe
05:16tightens climate-linked regulations officials see the deal as a tool to back
05:21to balance sustainability goals with economic growth
05:25I think this is the
05:26best culmination of India trade deal with the European Union
05:31have achieved especially after so many years of discussion
05:36between the two sides since 2007 and that stopped it and then started in 20
05:412022 and I believe this is going to be a beneficial for both the sides especially
05:46at the time when India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day and I
05:51this not only will put an India in the forefront as an emerging power
05:56but also it will help India in gaining mileage with the relation with the European Union
06:01in a political issue especially in the international arena
06:04I think that's the
06:06is rightly saying it because actually what's happening for the European Union after the
06:10president
06:11president Trump have already put all this tariff and threatening the Greenland's annexations and all
06:16is also threatening the European countries and I mean openly it is a
06:21clear indication that European Union is very much keen and searching for a market
06:26which is could be an India as the ultimatum for them like 1.45 billion
06:31people's are here you are having it's the second largest market in the world
06:36country and for them it is also an advantage for India that they will be less real
06:41lying on also in China
06:45the deal is final
06:46the deal is finalized but not yet active the text will undergo legal review over the next
06:51five to six months followed by formal signing and ratification approved
06:56the European Parliament will be required before implementation this
07:01agreement could redefine India Europe economic ties for decades
07:06just as global trade enters a far more uncertain era
07:11possible
