00:14General Santos International Airport made a full-scale simulation exercise
00:19led by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines or CAA
00:22to evaluate the airport's emergency plan
00:24in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
00:28According to Aerodrome Safety Manager Gassi Figueroa,
00:31it is an obligation to conduct a simulation exercise
00:35in all areas with commercial flights
00:37and it should be conducted every two years
00:39according to the required international standard.
00:41Our scenario for this year is what we call aircraft accident on airport.
00:47This is actually a runway excursion.
00:51And the second one is an act of unlawful interference
00:56wherein someone declared that there's a bomb on his chest
00:59while the flight is in loop from Manila to Dabao
01:02then diverted to General Santos City.
01:04So we only limit to two contingencies,
01:07aircraft accident on airport and act of unlawful interference.
01:12The Director-General of General Santos International Airport
01:16gave the continued effort of the airport
01:18to improve its preparedness in various emergencies
01:21and thanked all the agencies and organizations
01:25that are actively participating to ensure the safety and preparedness
01:28of General Santos International Airport in any situation.
01:31This exercise, hopefully, we can know
01:35that we are designed to be certified as an aerodrome certification.
01:41This successful simulation exercise
01:44proves the continued efforts of CAA
01:47that General Santos International Airport
01:50towards a safer and better service
01:53especially in responding to an emergency.
